Greenbrier River
Open from April through October, our 8-acre campground is located on the banks of the Greenbrier River with tree-lined RV sites, wooded riverside tent camping, and rentals that include four comfortable, fully-equipped cabins, a vintage Airstream and a 1964 Shasta. Our guests have access to a thousand feet of riverfront for great fishing and one of the best swimming holes on the river.

We also offer full-service tubing, kayak, and canoe trips in the very heart of the best paddling waters on the Greenbrier. There's Class I thru Class III action for all levels of paddling skill. Established in 1989, we take special pride in being "First on the River". We're only 15 minutes from downtown Lewisburg and just 19 miles from White Sulphur Springs.
Services
From I-64 take exit 161, Alderson/Alta, follow to Route 12 south and continue 10 miles to the town of Alderson. As you enter Alderson, turn left on Route 63 east and travel approximately 4 miles, the campground entrance is located on the right - watch for signs. We are only 15 minutes from downtown Lewisburg, WV, 10 minutes from the WV Fairgrounds, 20 minutes from the Greenbrier River Trail in Calwell, and 30 minutes from The Greenbrier Resort.
Whether you travel with trailer, pop-up, RV, or motor coach, we have a site for you. There's 30 and 50 amp service, water, cable TV (new cable throughout in 2019), WiFi, picnic table and fire ring. We offer full hook-ups (including sewer) on all sites and most sites have a deck. The sites offer partial shading and a view of the river.
Paddling trips range from 1.5 hours (2.5 river miles) up to 5+ hours (11 river miles) and in-between (5 miles or 2.5 hours), primarily between Ronceverte and Alderson, where the river provides a variety of challenges (Class I and II rapids) depending on the season. To check water conditions on the Greenbrier, follow this link to the ALDERSON GAUGE for current and predicted water levels.
The Greenbrier is the longest undammed river in the eastern United States. It runs a total of 173 miles and supplies the New River with an estimated 30% of its volume. Multi-day canoeing or kayaking trips may be available early in the season when water levels on the upper sections are adequate.

When conditions are appropriate, we can offer up to 3-day trips using our equipment or we can provide referrals for shuttle service if you have your own equipment.Class I water and during the spring months some rapids can run Class II. On this trip the river starts to broaden and has much more volume.
Looking for that outdoor experience with the luxuries of home? We offer cabins and vintage RVs on the river just 15 minutes from Lewisburg, the coolest small town in America (2011). Choose from the River Cabin, River House, River Retreat, Mountain Hideaway, Airstream Escape or a river 'glamping' experience in a renovated '64 Shasta RV.

Debated on what kind of rating here, as we didn't have a bad time this past weekend, but there were some things that simply cannot be overlooked. Being from beautiful NC when I think of West VA I think of rural mountain towns and quiet river bends. While that certainly exist, Greenbrier isn't that kind of place. 63 is a very busy road that is right beside the campground with loud traffic moving almost nonstop throughout the day and night. Coming primarily from the Lewisburg direction from what I could gather. On top of that, there are railroad tracks right across the river that are almost as busy

This place is not the best Campground I ha e ever been. I had a small leak on my water hose and they would just walk up and shut my water off. They were rude on check in. I wrapped blumbing tape on my hose and spicket tightened it up barley a drip. I leave and then suddenly they tell me after 4 days of being there that I have some crazy leak on my hose agai. And I have to get out. It's odd the leak wasn't going on at anytime while I was there but suddenly after I leave its leaking

Was told there'd be sandy spots for my tent, but there's only pea gravel. Hard to keep the tent in the ground. Pics of the sites are very misleading. Campground is very small, which isn't an issue. It's very quiet, which is pleasing. Just slightly disappointed with advertisement.

This campground is right on the river, which is beautiful. We were lucky enough to have a river view, with wonderful big shade trees. We were checked in with a sweet wonderful lady who had all the info we needed to find our spot and set up, which was a breeze. We really appreciated the raised deck with picnic table at our site. There are trains that run during the night just across the creek from the camp sites, not really a big deal. There is not a dog park, but a large grassy area to walk them.

Very charming campground in a beautiful location right on the river. The campground is super clean and has numerous nooks to sit and relax under the vines and trees or along the river. I was really impressed with the 'decor' that gave the campground a homey yet sophisticated feel. The owners Bob and Beverly were friendly and helpful. Everyone got together for Labor Day for a barbecue and live music. Plenty to do in the area - a wonderful place for a vacation.

Great riverside tent camping with big rocks in the river for hanging out, launching boats, or fishing. Swimming possible in the river at campsites. Sites 38-40ish seem to have awesome large river rocks. Nice bathhouse is a 5-minute walk into the RV section above the riverside tent camping. Porta-potty available near tent camping. Campground is well cared for. Staff and campers seemed friendly all around. There's a busy train track right across the river. It's fun to be watch! Coal and Amtrak passenger trains. The train also came four times in the *middle of the night* our first night there (a Friday

My family and I came here for a Father's Day weekend camping trip and we're still talking about how clean this place was and how NICE everyone was!! Best shower heads with great pressure. I recommend bringing good water shoes with traction for being in the river.

What a beautiful little campground on the river. We only stayed one night but it was all we could ever want or need. They do river sports/events as well with kayaks, tubes, etc. We will definitely be returning in the future!

The staff has been very friendly and helpful on every request. The grounds are kept up nicely and the bath house is very clean as for the train we had serval go by on the other side of the river and was no big deal. I would be happy to return and visit again. I stayed in the airstream that is available to rent and other friends stayed in one of there cabins that is also very nice

The person that checked us in was very nice otherwise not a great trip. Spot only had a strip of rock, extremely muddy (had to sweep twice a day), very active train tracks that go all night long and kept us up. Wifi doesn't work, green area ok but very small playscape with swing and slide. Canoe rental was $80 which seems like a lot to me. Other all customer service was a 4-5 but place was not!

This campground is about a 30-minute drive from The Greenbrier Hotel and is located on the Greenbrier rushing river. We were in the area visiting Smooth Ambler distillery and we were happy to find so much to do within an hour drive.

When you first pull in, the check-in area doubles as an outdoor adventure company's post. I assume it's the same owner. The kayaks and canoes are over to the side and would've been totally tempting had it not have been like 40 degrees and rainy when we were there.

This was unlike any campground that I'd ever been to before. It's privately
