Non-melanoma skin cancer is the most commonly diagnosed cancer in the United States according to the National Cancer Institute. In 2009, over one million new cases are expected. As part of our desire to fully treat the dermatology patient, we perform full body skin exams looking for melanoma and non-melanoma skin cancers.
We provide a full range of cosmetic services and sell several therapeutic skin care lines. We offer chemical peels for a variety of conditions including cosmetic rejuvenation, precancerous skin lesions, dyschromia (uneven pigmentation), rosacea and acne. Physician administered treatments like Botox for movement based wrinkles and dermal fillers for deeper, static wrinkles are available.
Patients scheduled for hair reduction should avoid electrolysis, plucking or hair waxing for six weeks prior to treatment. Any hair should be shaved prior to your visit. Patients should avoid sun exposure before and after treatment and should apply sunblock when going outdoors. Hyper-pigmentation, or darkening of the skin, is one of the most common side effects of laser hair reduction.

My mother is retired and on Medicare and she has Humana insurance. Recently she went to Current Dermatology in Sylva, NC for a check of a lot of spots on her skin…Doc “glanced” at her and said “sun damage.” My mom asked about having some of the spots frozen/removed, doc quickly said , “that’s not covered by your insurance but it’s $25 per spot to freeze them off and left the room. My mother was charged for the visit and that was that! I brought my mom to SC and to my dermatologist and she has possible squamous cell on her hand, which was biopsied today, results in a couple weeks

My husband and I have been going to Current Dermatology for some time now and always receive the best care in a friendly and clean office atmosphere . Dr. Patterson, the P.A.s and other other staff are very professional and thorough in both the Clyde and Sylva offices. I would highly recommend them.

I have had severe eczema for more than 15 years now and from the different dermatologists I have had to go to (from work moving me to new areas) I have seen many different clinics and their work ethics. Current Dermatology has been the worst clinic ever to the point now that I have risked my own ability to get my prescription for my biologic that I need to be able to take care of my family because I just can't do it anymore with Current. Here are the major issues I have had with this company:
1. No real organized effort from the daily management of scheduling. Numerous times they wait until the

Five stars so far; haven’t seen a doctor yet, but the nurse practitioner is a jewel.
First visit: Rebecca is very knowledgeable with gentle expert hands; she identified two basal cell carcinomas (skin cancers ) and biopsied them, completely sans discomfort.
This I say with authority having spent a large part of forty-two years correcting plastic surgeon disasters. I’ll write more after the docs remove the lesions.
Dr Current Patterson saw me twice, removing a basal cell skin cancer from my face, then removing a second cancer from my back as well as other annoying lesions;
I asked her when

Called to set up my appointment, they said they would call back. Which they did, I missed the call and called them back the same day, and was told nobody was in the office to take my appointment??? Then I said well okay thank you, in the middle of saying that I was hung up on. I called back because nobody called me for a little over a week, when I called back and explained the situation and asked the receptionist could I go ahead and set up an appointment, she said um. Sureeee. Completley unprofessional, I'll find somewhere else to go next time.
