Lake Arrowhead Yacht Club
Their desire was to provide a venue for competition and sportsmanship, and for members to participate in regional, national and international yachting events. The mission of the Lake Arrowhead Yacht Club is to instill and enhance an interest in yachting and the spirit of sportsmanship amongst its members and their families, and to that end, to provide programs to promote and support yacht racing in the Corinthian spirit.

We are dedicated to providing an active yacht racing program for members of all ages that enhances the reputation of our Club as a center of racing at Lake Arrowhead and in the greater yachting community. We will also provide an active and enjoyable family environment in which members of all ages can participate with pride and enthusiasm.
Services
The club offers a Junior Associate sailing membership for those persons 10-20 years old who have a strong interest in the art of sailing. This class of membership allows young people the opportunity to participate in the club's instructional sailing classes and race program. Please contact [email protected] for additional information.
All races and regattas sponsored by the Lake Arrowhead Yacht Club will be governed by the current "Racing Rules of Sailing" (RRS), including the prescriptions of the United States Sailing Association, LAYC Sailing Instructions, and current class rules for all classes. Said class rules shall be filed with the Principal Race Officer (PRO) or Race Committee Chairperson (RCC) before the start of the racing season.
On the lakes in the U.S. where conditions are not suited to keel boats the scow type sailboat is used. The boat is flat, has one sail, two side boards, and a single rudder. On a reach it is exceedingly fast. Unlike typical mono-hulled sailboats, the flat bottomed C Scow was designed to sail at more of an angle.
The fast exciting catamaran adds a new dimension to our racing program. Hobie cats are known for their speed and grace on the water. The Hobie fleet at Lake Arrowhead is ever-growing and is full of dedicated members who love to sail. Hobie races are always exciting to watch and participating in them offers sailors an opportunity to maneuver the waves of one of the most beautiful lakes in Southern California.
One of the most popular single-handed dinghies in the world. It has one main sail. According to the Laser Class Rules the boat may be sailed by either one or two people, though it is rarely sailed by two. A commonly cited reason for its popularity is that it is robust, simple to rig and sail. The design, by Bruce Kirby, emphasizes simplicity and performance.
