History of TALBOTT NURSERY & POULTRY Was first founded as: YE OLE BACKYARD NURERY over 40 years ago in Nacogdoches, Texas; right after I came back from the U.S. NAVY, and my tour in the Orient. I had just finished a Bachelor's Degree in Biology, and a Communications Master's Degree at Stephen F. Austin State University, and was looking for work!
Services
WE will take the orders in sequence according to their numbers/dates except for the priorities mentioned. I can usually get out 8-10+ a day and we will concentrate on those living in warmer climates. I send out bare-root trees the same day we pull them, and usually ship Bougainvillea and Orchids as a block at one time.
The idea is that a deciduous plant goes dormant in the cold winter to protect itself from the cold. The plant needs to stay dormant while the weather is freezing and then know how soon after it gets above freezing it can safely start growing. It must do it late enough so it doesn't get frozen back by a late frost but early enough so it can get a full season of growth and fruiting in before it must go dormant for the next year.
We grow, sell, and ship the nicest Blooming Plants and Edibles from one of the largest collections in the USA. We ship quickly via USPS Priority mail. Plants are shipped out on Mondays, Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and sometimes on Saturdays. Most plants will be sent bare root wrapped in wet sphagnum moss and a plastic bag wrapped in tape for security, and sent via USPS Priority Mail.

I ordered 3 ornamental trees. Between flooding, vacations and it being peak busy season, it took a few weeks to get them but they were well worth the wait! They were all over 3 feet tall and at a price that was more affordable than those I'd seen at just 10 inches tall. If you are able to wait a few weeks I highly recommend this online nursery.

Going on 6 weeks and still no sign of receiving the order. Called to check up and received rude response. Emailed 3 weeks after order and was told the order is going out following week (week 4). I would think twice about this business.

I ordered 2 plants and had not received them for over 3 weeks. I understand there were shipping delays, however had not received any type of update that whole time. I chose to request a refund which the nursery did provide and I let them know I did not want to continue doing business with them any longer. I've copied the snarky response from the owner below, which makes me glad I did not give this place any business and definitely will not give them a second chance. There are many other nurseries to do business with.
"Note from Talbott Nursery and Poultry: Customer requested refund, evidently

Plants were in excellent condition. They had good variety of blueberry and blackberry plants, plum trees. and strawberry plants. Blueberry bushes had numerous blooms. Plum tree was one that is difficult to find, but Talbott had several. Blackberry bushes were full of leaves for February. I don't know about other reviews, but I had very good experience and have been in gardening for several years. John was very informative. I wouldn't hesitate to go there and buy plants. I will go back.

I ordered a Bougainvillea bare root "plug" which arrived to me appearing completely dead: all brown with NO green on it. I figured it was "dormant" because they described it as a "bare root". I followed their instruction sheet to the smallest detail. This plant was DOA - DEAD ON ARRIVAL; I know this is true, because I ordered another one, which arrived with some green growth on it and that appears to be growing fine. BOTH plants are in the same pot, same soil, with same nutrients. I contacted this company and they HAVE ABSOLUTELY NO GUARANTEE on the dead plant they shipped to me. Furthermore, they
