Fitted to combine the finest blend of comfort and utility, the 65-foot classic working yacht gently sails you into one of the world's richest marine environments for the best in small ship Alaska cruising. Named after one of Captain Cook's ships, the Discovery's atmosphere is one of charm and style.
Meg's culinary interest developed growing up in an Italian and Irish food loving family, and was fine tuned by working alongside Discovery chefs. Her menu is authentically Alaskan, prepared in a way that only someone who enjoys eating as much as they enjoy cooking, can. Having gathered recipes from years of talented Discovery cooks, Meg has put together a vast arrangement that features her top picks.
Dean Rand and Megan Ciana are the owners and operators of the family run Discovery Voyages. In addition, they are your licensed captains and naturalists during your voyage. Dean began his Alaskan maritime experience in the Bering Sea crab fisheries in the 1970's.
He continued with commercial fishing ventures as well as forestry projects throughout Alaska and in the late 1980's began providing logistic support for maritime scientific research studies in Prince William Sound.He and his two daughters started the tourism business aboard the Discovery in 1992 in the coastal community of Cordova.

Everything from first contact with Meg re booking to everything we experienced on board was seamless. Dean is a wonderful person with a wealth of knowledge to share, Meg is an amazing cook always coming up with super yummy meals to enjoy, Tori and Erin are both a great wealth of knowledge and all round beautiful people always there to help. Every day on board the Discovery was amazing. I loved all of the sounds of the Sound: glaciers calving, whales blowing, waterfalls, sea lions fussing, kayaks scraping growlers, and the sound of the Anchor being let down at our place for the night. Meg announcing meals, “Ding, ding, ding” was one of my favorites!

We cruised with Dean, Meg, Tori and Mike 3 months ago for our honeymoon and it was the absolute highlight of our trip. The crew were so accommodating and the food was delicious. Adventuring with Tori and Mike off the boat allowed us to experience the beauty of Alaska up close, and we learned so much from them. When Tori found out how much I wanted… to see a tufted puffin she made an extra effort to make sure that happened (which it did!). It was truly an amazing experience and we are already trying to figure out when we can go back for a longer trip! Highly highly highly recommended especially

July 2018 I took their Prince William Sound 5-day tour with my 4 and 5-year-old grandchildren and daughter in law. We had an amazing time and the food was awesome! The crew (Dean, Meg, Heather, and Torry) couldn't have been better, they have thought of all the details to make our trip amazing and they were fun an entertaining as well! The… equipment they have is excellent, the hikes and kayak trips were well thought out and appropriate for our adventurous group (we knew the others on the boat as well)! The boat is well equipped with warm showers, cozy clean sleeping quarters, plenty of room

This is the best overnight boat tour ever. Captain Dean, Meg and his crew are awesome. We had Tori and Mike as our off ship tour guides and they were so knowledgeable and enthusiastic it was infectious. Who knew glaciers were so exciting? This is a small intimate ship and we had wonderful fellow travelers. Every activity is geared to the whole… group and our group was ages 30-70. All meals are prepared fresh on board and everyone was more delicious than the last. There are enough activities to keep you busy but also enough down time to relax. My favorite part was just cruising the harbor

This is a phenomenal outfit. Captain Dean and his crew put on the most fun-filled, action packed cruises around Alaska. I can't wait to return. My family and I are fortunate enough to travel quite a bit. But, I must say that our cruise with Discovery Voyages was probably the best vacation we have ever had. We can't wait to go back, for sure!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I've run out of superlatives to describe our trip. We took our six kids, ranging in age between 5 and 19 and ALL of us enjoyed ourselves emensely. Captain Dean and his crew are so competent and knowledgeable about any and all things related to Prince William Sound. We would absolutely recommend them for a trip!
