We had a great dinner at this restaurant. Party of 8 and no one was disappointed. Service was good, food was delicious, and the chef/owner came out and gave us the history of the restaurant. He even took us on a tour of the hotel.

Might be premature rating this restaurant since we only enjoyed cocktails & appetizer, but what did have was quite nice. Our bartender/waiter, Chris was attentive, very nice, made a super extra dirty martini & gave us a great recommendation for our appetizer selection. I cannot have certain foods & he personally checked with the kitchen to make sure my selection was appropriate for my consumption.

The restaurant has two sides which was a bit confusing...one was classy & the other looked like a diner. Restroom was in the hotel which this restaurant is a part of I gather.

I stopped by this place when I was headed back home from a work trip. I love creole food so I figured I would give this place a try. They might not look like the best restaurant but don't let the looks deceive you, the food is great.

I had the shrimp and grits and they were to die for! I'd never had shrimp and grits with a tomato based sauce but it was great. I thought it would be too acidic but it wasn't at all. It actually gave it some more heat.

The shrimp were good size and I loved how creamy the grits were. This might be my favorite shrimp and grits dish of all time. I would

I strongly recommend if you are looking for a place to eat in Defuniak that you avoid Cafe NOLA. I sat and listened to several people complaining about the poor service and hoped our experience would be better, however, it was not. We had made reservations in advance and when we arrived 15 minutes early we were told our table was not ready but would be in about 10 minutes. We waited until 30 minutes after our reservation time and they just started serving dessert to the previous group at our "reserved" table. When it was brought to managers attention he said "again" just 5 or 10 more minutes which

The food and service was impeccable. I had a shrimp PO Boy and it has set a new standard. The Red fish sandwich is excellent and other diners bragged about the fried chicken tacos. I highly recommend this restaurant! Perfect for locals or folks headed to or from the beach! Next time I'm ordering a plate of beignets!

My family came here for what was supposed to be a nice quality dinner. Two members of my family ordered fried seafood, an oyster poboy and the fried fish. Both dishes were less than subpar, most likely because they sat for 10 minutes before serving. I ordered the filet mignon to the temp of medium rare, most definitely medium to well done on the edges and too salty to eat. My mom ordered the lobster salad, the lobster was shredded and not bites, maybe our fault on that one? All in all, terrible evening. Service wasn't great, but our server was apologetic. The server also mentioned that the

This is one of the nicer restaurants to eat at in DeFuniak Springs. And it looks like they're continuously trying to improve the place. And as the downtown area is revitalized over time I'm sure that it will become even more popular.
The restaurant (and attached hotel) has a bit of old New Orleans feel to it, but the piped-in 1970's pop rock music didn't enhance it. The food was pretty good, and prices are probably what you'd expect. We had oysters, mahi and the filet mignon. All were good, especially the mahi. If you're feeling adventurous try their specialty

I would come here just to sit and soak up the atmosphere in this beautifully kept historic building! Cafe Nola is in the bottom floor of Historic Hotel Defuniak which is a updated bed and breakfast ( Now on my list of places to stay). **As well as explore Defuniak's Historic District, I was hoping to visit the Little Big Store (looks like a fun kitschy /antique store) next door but unfortunately it was closed as we came on a Sunday (sign says Sundays are just depends).
The food and service were excellent, I had the Jambalaya Pasta w/ shrimp and the sauce was perfect, not too overwhelming

We happened to be in the area and decided to take a chance and eat lunch here...
Well we were Very pleasantly surprised!!!
The decor is rather nice and gives you that old school 20's - 40's vibe. Service was very good... it did however take about 20-ish minutes to get our food BUT Holly Molly it was definitely worth the wait.....
My Cajun shrimp tacos were spot on and the wife's Roast Beef Po-boy was Outstanding!!!
We would Highly recommend this place to visit if you are in the area....

Dined there last week (mid October). Ambiance is nice, music and lights were too loud and the food was room temp and/or cold. They were steak and potatoes dinners. Expensive food for meager fare.

We stopped in here on the way to a ballgame and the food was absolutely delicious! We had the Mahi with green beans, I had the mashed potatoes and my husband had the grits. It was on a Tuesday before 5 so there was only a few people inside. The service was good and the food was great! We will definitely be back!

Really good food, the place has tons character. The Thursday night couple special (3-course meal that changes weekly; see photo) was phenomenal. A great local place to eat. The attached hotel (Hotel Defuniak) is a wonderful boutique hotel as well. Definitely check this place out!

First time dining here. Was a bit surprised, the food was delicious. Three of us dined, we tried 3 different appetizers, and each was better than the last! I was worried, with the food being New Orleans style, that it would be overwhelming spicy, but the spices complemented each other and not overwhelming to enjoy.

Avoid this restaurant! Overpriced, bad food, and long wait. It's a shame that such a beautiful building is wasted on a subpar restaurant.

$10 for a "Cajun" Mary (Bloody Mary) that completely lacked any creativity or proper seasoning. One sad green bean and an olive as a garnish. Seriously, for $10 you can fo better. Make an effort.

Appetizer 1: Fried green tomatoes. The breading was tasty but the portion was so small. 3 small thing slices of tomato. Just sad, sad appetizer.

Appetizer 2: Boudin balls. Inedible. They were small and mashed into a gummy ball. Sticky

I'm giving 4 stars based on customer service with the host gentleman who spoke to me on the phone. Big oopsie that he didn't place himself on mute when making a comment about a customer. Other than that, they worked with me in order to handle a payment over the phone. It was important for me because it was a surprise for my parents who I knew had hard days at work. I wanted dinner to be the last of their worries. I set up a delivery with the child of a friend since I live in Miami and was attempting all of this from Miami lol whewwww. My parents loved the food and loved the surprise.

Expected a great experience, but there service is awful and the food is...fine. This place has a ton of potential, with a very cool bar area, light fixtures and large well-decorated area. It truly feels like stepping into a New Orleans brasserie or cafe.

The menu is well laid out, with a lot of fried fish options and some traditional Cajun options. Overall, the food was OK...nothing to write home about but it will fill you up if that's what you need. I tried the fried crawfish, boudin balls, gator bites, and fish platter. My friend had the crawfish pasta and that was definitely the best

What a disappointment. From Yelp. It stated this was a breakfast and Brunch place

No. It is not

It is a fine dining lunch and dinner place. Nothing on the regular menu is less than $12.00. We ordered 2 bloody Mary's a coffee2 children drinks and 3 adult lunches with 2 children's.

Service was slow. Much slower than I anticipated. The children's drinks arrived first, then the bloody Mary's, then after more of a wait, the lone coffee.

The bloody Mary's were ok. But not great. Served in plastic glasses packed to the max in ice. One olive was floating in them with a line

Had been here once a couple years ago and had a good meal at the bar. Was looking for someplace different for Sunday brunch/lunch and figured it was a good idea to revisit! Called ahead to confirm they were open for lunch and serving mimosas - Sunday staple. When we arrived I immediately noticed the mess on the floor at the host podium. The hostess brought us to a table in The separate bar area on the right, ensuring me that it was the same food and service as the main restaurant.

We were seated at a dirty table (I wiped) next to a dirty table (piled with dirty dishes and food) and waited on

Worth the 10 min off interstate to get authentic NOLA food. Have to always check the shrimp poboy and gumbo, but their best meal is the etouffe.
My goodness is was perfect.
The waitress was super friendly and actually brought a sample of jambalaya for a taste.
Don't expect cheap / country prices but was comparable to any meal cost.
