Services
In the State of California if a married person decides to divorce their spouse they have the absolute right to terminate the marriage. Child support is a monthly payment made by one parent to the other to help compensate a parent with custody, who makes less money and/or has more time with the children than the other parent.
JANE MARTIN is an Attorney-Supervised Paralegal and Legal Document Preparer. She is available to assist Self-Represented clients for any California Superior Court. She is available in the Chico and Napa offices by appointment and works via the telephone and internet for other area courts.

I have been doing paralegal work since 1989 when I was a legal intern with Community Legal Information Center (CLIC), a hands on pre-law program through California State University, Chico. As many as 50% of all cases filed in family courts in the State of California are filed by parties not represented by an attorney.
I have been doing paralegal work since 1989 when I was a legal intern with Community Legal Information Center (CLIC), a hands on pre-law program through California State University, Chico. I started ACCESS COURT SERVICES in 1995 and have been working with family law clients since that time. Because of my journalism background, I have been able to help clients tell their side of the story in court documents.
As many as 50% of all cases filed in family courts in the State of California are filed by parties not represented by an attorney. These are also known as "Pro Per" cases (short for "In Propria Persona" - Latin for representing oneself). Sometimes this is because a party simply can not afford to hire an attorney.
One of the goals the state has embodied in the law, is that children should be able to enjoy "frequent and continuing contact" with both parents, where appropriate, even if the percentage of time spent with each parent is not equal. In cases where the ordered timeshare is unequal, the court's order may still say that the parents share "joint physical custody".
