Dr. Schwappach was born and raised in Denver, CO. He attended the Colorado School of Mines and graduated in 1985 with a Bachelor's of Science in Engineering Chemistry. In 1989, Dr. Schwappach graduated with Honors from the University of Colorado School of Medicine. He completed his orthopedic residency program at the University of Kansas.

Outstanding physician for my emergency hip fracture at Sky Ridge. Outcome exceeded expectations. Dr. Thon is a highly skilled surgeon, and an outstanding communicator who pays attention to detail addressing my other med issues and total situation.
He is personally engaged with every facet of my case. Unlike many docs who disappear after the surgery turning post op care over to a PA his multiple post op visits and updates have been valuable.
Selecting Dr. Thon is a no brainer. Imagine having a skilled surgeon who is not a Prima Donna and who actually cares. What a concept!

Everyone at Denver Metro Orthopedics is always friendly, and willing to help. They know you name when you walk in and always treat you with respect and care how you are doing.
I have been seeing Dr. Schwappach for a hip injury. Every time I am in for a check up he takes the time listen to my concerns and takes the time to explain everything to me.

My care for my broken femur has been exceptional by this team!

My wife, Karen, and I, were extremely pleased and blessed by the way Denver metro orthopedics, under the leader ship of doctor Schwappa, handled my Achilles tendon tear repair! They were very meticulous and supportive of the various doctors involved. There was much more involved in my surgery than a tendon repair. We had to be very much adhered to the council from cardiac doctors to long doctors, etc.Also, let me give a quote shout out to the nurses and doctors in general at Swedish medical center. I have had such good care! Dr. Schwappach replaced my hip after a traumatic accident at Rehab. The hip replacement post surgery course was uneventful. He, and the team he has put together in office, made this recovery as seamless as possible. Dr. S is kind and he listens. I always felt I could make a question or concern heard and addressed. I highly recommend this practice!
