The term Single-Acting here refers to cylinders that are hydraulically powered in only one direction. Most easily identified by requiring only one hose. Double-acting cylinders have two hoses to facilitate power for both advance and return. Some single-acting cylinders have an internal spring to assist in retracting (returning) the piston.
