I’m so glad that I found out about this place. Ms. Nikki did an amazing job on my hair. I came in with a last minute appointment and even with my hair not detangled. Ms. Nikki was super patient and kind to me as she got my hair together. My hair turned out looking great; Ms. Nikki truly did an awesome job. I will definitely be back!

I've been consistently going to La Pearl Beauty Emporium for about two months now. The stylists are very much advocates for hair and scalp health. When you visit La Pearl, you will experience a professional atmosphere, experienced/ knowledgeable stylist that will nurture your hair and provide you with great/modern hairstyles. I receive treatments for scalp psoriasis and it has helped my scalp greatly. I've also had my natural hair flat twisted. Recently, I've been getting a press and curl. Had a virgin low lye relaxer done and had a wonderful experience! Nikki was very informative and knowledgeable and gave the best relaxing hair wash I’ve had in a long time. My hair came out beautifully with texture and manageability. She will definitely be a staple in my hair care! Thanks so much!!

Found La Pearle thanks to Mayvenn. My wedding was this month on the 10th and I had no clue how to do my hair. I wanted either a weave or wig and opted for a wig. With the help of mayvenn I was able to purchase a beautiful 18 inch body wave wig along with one of their services. They gave me salon options to get my wig customized and I saw La Pearle and there ratings along with photos. They are the first one to pop up on the list. Very warm, personable customer service: they treat you like family here! I came in to get my natural hair cared for and my stylist, Nikki, was EXTREMELY attentive to my needs and walked me through the whole process and made sure that I knew what I was getting into. And she works so hard! I definitely felt like she was putting the customer first. Overall it was a great experience. But I was prepared to wait. It took a long time to get my silk press done BUT the overall customer service was excellent. She was professional when replying to emails/phone calls and when answering my questions while in the chair. She never burned my scalp and that is probably the first time I have EVER experienced no burns.
The thing that makes my experience 5 stars is she was helping another salon out. They had a fire and she let them utilize her salon to continue working. That is incredible and I respect her for that.

I went here a while ago and I had natural hair and it was long all I wanted was a wash and blow dry. Had been here before first time it was great but this time I went and came out worse than before I went. It was crazy look like I didn't even get my hair done. It was the owner's daughter both times, like it was a different person second time as messed up as my hair was! They should have been closed down. I paid anyway but never went back.

Nikki is phenomenal. My first time going was two weeks ago. She not only styles your hair but also takes care of it. After months of not having my ends trimmed I have quite a bit of split ends. Nikki trimmed me while retaining my length and has created a plan to get my hair healthy again. She was timely in getting my hair done and very friendly. She will definitely be my stylist from here on out.

I went into La Pearl Beauty to get a wash and trim. Nikki was very kind to me and gave great advice for my hair growth retention. Natural hair salons are always pricey, but she was so understanding when I said no to a treatment and a product because I didn't have the funds. I also wasn't pressured to have anything extra. It was a great experience. The salon is so cute, and nice. I recommend it :)

I googled "natural hair salons" Philadelphia and chose La Pearl for the proximity to my job. I called to make an appointment and was asked appropriate questions. I was sold when they said they cut hair while it's curly!

Not only is LaPearl's like family but they go above and beyond to give you quality hair and scalp care. They get to know you and are able to tell you what you need. My hair was breaking off badly from transitioning and I had a bald spot. Ms. Nikki took care of those horrible ends and gave me such a cute bob. I love my hair. It hasn't felt like this in so long. And Mrs. Pearl is amazing. That bald spot? Gone in a month. So now I don't have to hide it behind bangs any more. Three stars because my weave looks nice even 7 weeks later. However, she kept me waiting 1 and a half hours even though I had an appointment- typical blank salon fare but I guess I'm spoiled because I don't return anywhere appointments aren't honored. Also she charged me $30 for a trim!!! In what world is that done?

I went here a couple of times for a relaxer this summer and am giving them 4 stars because she's really nice otherwise I was tempted to do 3. I went twice because she got the job done and I didn't have many options since I couldn't go to my regular person in NYC and didn't want to risk another new person.
The first time I went I really didn't like that she kept asking if it was burning yet and let the relaxer sit until it started to. I don't burn easily and that made me uncomfortable with the thought of what it would do to my hair and scalp. Also, before We got started

Had the best time getting a sew-in with Sheena! She's hilarious and really kind. Nikki was also there and she is hilarious and really friendly too. Sheena took down my old hair, washed, conditioned, detangled, dried, braided, sewed and styled me up -- with LITTLE TO NO PAIN THE ENTIRE TIME. & I am tender headed! I will definitely be back. Would absolutely recommend. Only downside: I was there for 6 hours (exhausted and hungry), but it seems to be unavoidable with hair as thick and unruly as my own. Thanks Sheena!

Worse experience EVER TODAY! Before her advice for my hair was true, but today she really grinded my gears. If you have straight hair then go, but if you are a natural who only gets their hair straightened a couple a times a year DON'T GO. Here is a list of the NO'NO's.

Great service! I got a wash and press and it was the quickest I've ever gotten...about 1.5hr. My hair looked amazing for 2.5wks! It was full of body and curl. I would definitely go back.
The prices are awesome...I think mine was about $40. They are also very involved in the community...they offered free services on MLK day!

I can't believe I didn't review this salon sooner! I've gone to La Pearls for over a decade now and have been consistently satisfied with my services. I was originally referred to the salon when I was looking for a natural stylist to press and or flat iron my hair in the late 1990s before the "natural hair movement" was a movement! At that time I was introduce to Pearl (co-owner / stylist) and her daughter Nikki (co-owner /stylist). It is funny to think that Nikki styled my hair for my freshman dance, gave me my first highlights & color, styled my hair for my senior
