Services
Kadampa Meditation Center Colorado is a spiritual community, a sanctuary in the city in which we can learn to practice Kadampa Buddhist meditations and use wisdom to solve our daily problems, grow spiritually and transform our world.

Based on the books of the contemporary Buddhist master, Venerable Geshe Kelsang Gyatso and the lineage of Kadampa Buddhist masters, KMC CO presents Buddha's teachings in an authentic and accessible manner that can easily be integrated into busy modern life.Located in the SloHi neighborhood in Denver, Colorado, we offer in-person and live-streamed meditation classes for all levels of interest and experience.
We offer a wide variety of weekly classes, most of which are drop-in and suitable for all levels of practitioner. Our Resident Teacher Kadam Lucy James teaches on Sunday mornings, Wednesday and Thursday evenings. These wonderful classes include guided meditations and practical teachings. We also have a Tuesday evening class with LJ Aaen which is an excellent class for all levels.
Discover how meditation empowers you to access a deeper sense of inner peace, happiness, and well-being, enabling you to feel genuinely and consistently good on the inside. Connecting to the natural peace and joy within our mind opens us up to recognizing and identifying with the potential for happiness, inner strength and other good qualities that exist within each and everyone of us.
In the New Kadampa Tradition, we have three spiritual programs: General Program (GP), Foundation Program (FP) and Teacher Training Program (TTP). These programs, designed by Ven. Geshe Kelsang Gyatso Rinpoche for the systematic study and practice of modern Buddhism, are especially suited to today's world.
Our main teacher at KMC Colorado is Kadam Lucy James. One of the senior teachers of Kadampa Buddhism, Kadam Lucy has taught extensively in England, Florida, and San Francisco, and helped set up many thriving meditation centers since 1981. She is regularly invited to teach courses around the United States and Europe due to her skill in presenting both simple and profound subjects with great clarity.

Very good programs on specific topics. Was hesitant on learning this new wisdom but I have been able to grasp more spiritual awakening in the short time here than in a lifetime

There’s a wonderful range of Live-streamed teachings and meditation classes from one of the most senior meditation teachers in the international organization. Kadam Lucy is outstanding! The other teachers are really good as well. The downtown Center is closed but live streaming from Cap Hill hasn’t missed a beat!

Oh my goodness, such a great place. Sometimes they have free lunchtime meditations, other times a small fee. But they have meditation several times per week, events, classes....it’s a wonderful place to get in touch with your inner spirituality.

This center has so much to offer. I walked in wanting to get some relief from stress and learn how to be a better meditator. I’ve gotten so much more! I never knew I could be so happy and the results were immediate. I highly recommend you check out a class, you won’t be disappointed.

On Wednesday nights at 7pm; they host a meditation class. It costs $. The format for the class integrates self-analysis and meditation into a unified tool for all of us to utilize-chiefly exploring causes of loneliness; personal shortcomings/habitual thoughts and to hopefully recognize any self-disillusion and other sabotaging perspectives. I really find a lot of value in the integration of self-analysis AND meditation. Each used independently are productive but used together do generate results that are inspiring and long-lasting. The people who operate the center; and the teacher for the Wednesday

This is an amazing place for new meditators and old. The variety of teachings available is beyond helpful to all people seeking peace in this less than peaceful world. There are general classes, study programs for advanced learning, day courses and even a meditation class for kids. It’s the most comprehensive and accessible meditation center that I have found in all of Denver.

As a former dabbler in a large variety of mindfulness teachings and meditation styles, I am happy to have found a home at KMC. The teachings are very pure and really do work to bring more peace and compassion into you life. The community consists of kind and normal, everyday people. We take our 2 year old to many of the classes and events and they are very accommodating for families.

I have been to other Buddhist meditation centers. Kadampa is by far the best, most peaceful and friendliest meditation center in Denver. They have noon meditation Monday through Friday which is great for my schedule. I recommend Kadampa Meditation Center to everyone from those who have been meditating for years to those interested and just starting out.

Kadampa Meditation Center (formerly Avalokiteshvara Buddhist Center) is a very welcoming and peaceful place for everyone! No matter what kind of mood I'm in when I arrive, I ALWAYS leave feeling much lighter and with a much more positive attitude! The general program classes are awesome... useful and practical advice for everyone, not just Buddhists! You can take what is useful from these classes and leave the rest behind if you choose... but I can honestly say there is nothing I have ever wanted to leave behind! There are even classes for kids on Sunday mornings! There is no pressure from anyone
