The Makaroff Youth Ballet (MYB) is a nonprofit organization whose mission is to make the classical art of ballet accessible for dancers and audiences in the Fox Valley Region. Our organization works hand-in-hand with the Makaroff School of Ballet, where our Artistic Director Jeanette Makaroff shares her gifts with students in classes that run for twelve weeks each winter, spring, and summer.
The rich Makaroff Legacy began with Nikolai and Juanita Makaroff over 50 years ago. Nikolai and Juanita's daughter, Jeanette Makaroff, continues her family's legacy today. As the current Artistic Director, she brings a significant amount of professional experience that has continued their legacy while enhancing and expanding on their work in ways that have transformed the arts' landscape in the Fox Cities.

Makaroff Youth Ballet (MYB), a partner with Ballet, Inc., is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization that seeks to provide high-quality pre-professional ballet performance and education opportunities to the youth of the Fox Valley region. It is the only non-profit youth ballet company in the area. We make classical ballet opportunities available to dancers and audiences in our community.
Makaroff Youth Ballet is excited to return to The Fox Cities PAC for our 2021 production of a holiday tradition! Herr Drosselmeyer, Clara's godfather, loves stories and he has the perfect one to share - The Nutcracker. Join him as he tells the classic tale of his unique gift, a magical battle and a world of sweets featuring talented local dancers accompanied with live music from the Fox Valley Symphony Orchestra.
The Makaroff School of Ballet, owned by Jeanette Makaroff, is a classical ballet school located in downtown Appleton. The school offers ballet classes for students ages 5 and up during the academic season, with additional interim classes held in the summer. The Makaroff Youth Ballet (MYB) is a separate, nonprofit organization with official 501(c)(3) status.

I was a student here from elementary school to high school. I was really in love with ballet as an art form and dreamed of pursuing dance as a career, but the put-downs and discouragement wreaked havoc on my enthusiasm. Reflecting on my experience at this school, I now see that I was too young to realize how the tense, toxic and exclusionary environment was affecting my development as an individual.I had enough self esteem remaining to decide to quit in early high school and it was the healthiest decision I could have made.
