The Morro Bay Yacht Club is a private, non-profit organization devoted to boating activities, along with the protection and enjoyment of our picturesque bay and coastline. We participate in both competitive and non-competitive boating activities throughout the year. Anyone at least 21 who owns a boat, is planning to buy a boat, or regularly enjoys boating activities in someone else's boat is invited to apply for membership.

Currently our members' boats range in size from kayaks to ocean cruisers, and just about everything in between. Many of our club activities center around sailing with small boat races held inside the bay or at local lakes, and big boat races held in nearby Estero Bay.
Services
The Morro Bay Yacht Club was formed in 1956 by an interested group of sailing and power boating enthusiasts. During the early years, much of the time was spent helping to improve harbor and boating conditions such as the placement of channel marking buoys. Members of the MBYC helped organized the Morro Bay Harbor District, Coast Guard Auxiliary Flotilla and the Chamber of Commerce.
The Clean Marine program is a partnership of private marina owners, government marina operators and yacht clubs. It was developed to provide clean facilities to the boating community and protect waterways from pollution through compliance with best management practices. The Morro Bay Yacht Club is committed to following the best management practices outlined by the Clean Marine program.
We have just started an ADULT pilot Fall sailing class. It will be a little different from what we have offered this past Summer. These are 2 day classes for the "Novice" sailor and 2 day classes for the "Practical" sailor. You can pick and choose the days that work best for you. The price will be $150 for each 2 day course.

Bob and his team are excellent sailing instructors! They care about you and want you to be prepared for anything that might occur in the water while on a boat. I learned a lot from Bob, Andrew, Dave, and Nathan. I met wonderful passionate and friendly sailing enthusiasts and will pursue a Club membership just as soon as I can join! Thank you!!!

My son participated in the sailing camp this summer (2021). Keep in mind at this time there are zero mask recommendations for the outdoors and yet Bob the director insisted that all the kids had to keep them on outside on the docks and in the boatyard. There was no indication on their website about this covid protocol. I would have never signed my child up for a program that would require children to keep their faces covered when junior guards, project surf camp, and many other camps allows children to breath the fresh air. But rest assured that if your child sustains minor injuries such as cuts

We love MBYC! We got a mooring for a month, met great people, took warm showers, paddle boarded a lot and enjoyed the view. Lynn, the Port Master is an amazing lady. So stoked to say we shortly lived in Morro Bay (MBYC)🤗

Nice dock, the usual friendly sailing crowd. Clean restrooms, showers. Good small town feel. Didn't get a chance to go in the bar / restaurant, but heard it was good. Beautiful views.
