Select Sewing Service was founded in downtown Indianapolis in 1953 by James W. Bennett. Back then, many sales were done in the home by a team of outside sales representatives. Through the years, it was a family operation; Jim's brother, mother, father and wife all worked in the stores. James Bradley Bennett, the son of the founder, started working in the store and learning sewing machines as a child.
Jim Bennett is president and owner of Select Sewing Service. The company was founded in 1953 by his father. Jim began helping out around the store as a young boy, which has given him over 30 years of experience in the sewing-machine industry. Karen hosted the PBS show, "America Quilts Creatively, " and worked as National Education Manager for PFAFF Sewing Machines USA.
