The Hunt Store, or "The Store" as the locals call it, has been in existence in its current location for over 67 years. Zander's Grocery was opened in 1946 by Whitlock "Whit" Zander and W. B. Have you ever had the opportunity to talk to someone you really admired? It's an exhilarating experience! I was recently able to enjoy such an occasion when I interviewed Irene Van Winkle, an award-winning Texas journalist. During our conversation, Irene told me how she got her start in journalism, a path that led to multiple.

The burger was delicious and huge! Hit the spot for my craving for a homestyle burger. The fries were great too, we got them fully loaded.

I have had chicken salad at restaurants and some are better than others. I ordered a chicken salad with greens at this place. I had never been here before. The consistency was like paste and I had bad indigestion all day. I almost swallowed a bone so be aware if you have this tasteless salad. There was a small amount of chicken salad and a plate full of greens and no dressing for the greens. I threw it away in their trash. My grandsons didn't like their burgers. I have never gone anywhere with my grandsons that they didn't eat all of their burgers. The fries weren't good either.

What a surprisingly awesome place!! This restaurant came as a recommendation from the owners of the Airbnb we stayed.

It turns out to be a local hot spot. Do not be turned off by the outer appearance. It's more than a gas station, convenience store. This place is the most interesting little shop and restaurant inside and an inviting party patio out back. It's worth the experience.

We were lucky enough to go on a Friday evening when they had a live band playing. The atmosphere and the people were so lively and fun.
The employees were so friendly, the food was incredibly good, and the

We happen to be in the area and wanted to support a local business! This is a fun place to be on a Saturday Night. The reef was playing and they just got a new fan! Loved their music and how fun they were to watch playing their hearts out!

Out of all the food, the sliced brisket was the absolute best! They gave us so much fat from the brisket so it was full of flavor! My burger had a lot of pink in it, but was still good. These burgers are Texas Size! I could barley finish mine.

I would totally recommend stopping by if your in the area. Customer service was great! Everyone was friendly!

The online menu shows meat by the pound. I needed something quick for dinner and didn't want to drive to Bill's or Buzzy's, so I decided to try King's Smokehouse. I asked the young lady at the counter for one pound of chopped brisket to go. She didn't say anything and rang up the order. She brought it out about 10 minutes later and I drove home. When I opened the bag, there was a chopped brisket sandwich and chips. I called the store hoping they made a mistake and would fix it, and was told "We don't sell meat by the pound". Why didn't the counter person tell me that? I was stuck with a sandwich

Go here if you're in the area! Huge selection and I can't wait to go back and try more. I had the Cuban sandwich and it was perfect. My daughter had the kids corn dog and it was literally the best corn dog either of us had in our lives.

Coming to the Hunt Store is a fantastic experience. It has a great location, hill country rustic charm, friendly employees, live music, local homemade goods, & truly fantastic smoked meats which they use to craft some magnificent barbecue sandwiches. I could go into the small details that make the food here so good but for the sake of brevity I will just make a strong recommendation that you try it yourself.

This location currently does not serve food on Mondays. The store is open but not the restaurant. Be sure and plan accordingly as this is not clear on the website. The stars are for the scattered inventory of food and dry goods in the store and an ATM outside. Based on other scores the restaurant food should be better, I would advise calling first to see what's happening.

One of a kind place. The last convenient stop before heading to MO RANCH, the family camping spot. I decided to go for a cruise in my car one day and ended up at The Hunt Store. It has upgraded to the outdoors. It has an area for a band, BBQ pit, and quite a few tables to eat their great food. It had been a long time since we took the family camping trip but when we did go we would stop here and grab the necessitates and a burger. Don't change to much yall, stay Kool! AWESOME BURGERS

Stopped in at the Hunt Store today. Had a Chopped BBQ brisket sandwich. Came with pickles, jalapeños, onions and potato chips. Husband had one of their awesome brownies. Love this place and we stop in often. Always friendly staff, good food, amazing local honey and clean restrooms. Will be back again soon.

This is a quaint, local place.
King's Texas BBQ, a local, is served here and is really good. Lots of meat and fixings choices on the menu. The meat is nicely smoked and not overly salted and they are not stingy with the portions. The food and folks factor here is excellent.

If you are concerned about your safety regarding the covid 19 virus then maybe you should avoid this place. There is a mask policy but it is not enforced. The employees wear them but it appears many of the locals don't care and blatantly joke about it. The wife and I wore our masks as we have done for months and were not comfortable here. We have been stopping at the Hunt Store, since 1993, when we traveled to Kerrville and the Hill country but will avoid this place for the foreseeable future. In fact, Kerrville and the surrounding communities don't seem to take the pandemic seriously

Saw this featured on the Daytripper today, and it inspired me to write this more realistic review. Stopped by about a month ago, and it was very creepy. Everyone in he place ignored us, and we were the only people wearing masks in the place. We were looking for a place to eat lunch, but as they worked so hard make us feel I welcomed, we just grabbed a couple of sodas and took them up to the counter to pay. The staff looked at us but made no effort to ring up our purchases and We stood there while they continued their gossiping (probably talking about the time they played banjo on "Deliverance

Called in the order. Traveled across town for some views and a suprise gentle rain. When I arrived there was a minimal wait. Picked up the goods and headed home. I got to see a favorite person inside the store who was visiting as well. Kings BBQ satiated my inner carnivore with the "Cleaver and Sauce". Oh my goodness y'all! So yummy. A perfect blend of chopped, slow roasted brisket with their house BBQ sauce on a Brioche bun. Perfection!! I will make the trip again. Love the local Hunt Store vibe and authenticity!! Folks make the trip out to Hunt, Texas, it will not disappoint.

What a disappointment. Order did not have sample of house made chips that were suppose to come with both sandwiches we ordered. Thin crispy fries were soggy and and not crispy as you can see in my picture. Meat counter looked good. I may go back to buy meat but don't think I will be buying any more food. My Papi was not very tasty and Bob Burger was way too big for my friend.

Saw this place on Day Tripper. Drove out for a family day, when we got there the restaurant was closed. I asked what the times for the cafe were. I was treated horrible, never had I experienced discrimination like that. This person (young white guy with glasses and red hair) NEVER looked at me and made me feel as if i had bothered him. I waited to go eat at this place and after that I WILL NEVER GO BACK NOR WILL I RECOMMEND THIS PLACE.

After seeing a story on "The Daytripper" about the Hunt Store restaurant, my husband and I were looking forward to a great meal after our two and a half hour drive from Austin. Unfortunately, that was not the case. We made sure to go on a Saturday and checked the hours on the website. We got there at 2:30 in the afternoon and found what was basically a fast food menu. Burgers, chicken tenders, fries, etc... No chicken Diablo, no chicken fried steak, no appetizers. Confused, I asked the counter person about other offerings and she said that on Friday and Saturday evenings there is a full

Has the bare necessities with a great staff and a decent cafe. Nothing over the top but you'll feel welcomed and leave with a warm full stomach. Their burgers look great and even the chicken tenders aren't bad at all. I left very content.

I guess it's an honorary 5 star nod for the Hunt Store. This in fact was the first place I legally bought beer on my 21st birthday. Then girlfriend and I spent the weekend in the area staying just down the road at the Hunter House in Ingram. Think I visited a few times for cervezas that weekend.

Established in it's current location in 1946, the space now houses a convenience store, restaurant, beer joint, and bank. Location is a picturesque stretch of road next to the Guadalupe; perhaps one of the most beautiful riverside drives in Texas.

Also, if your family bought here ages ago property

An interesting place. A quaint rustic Texas hill country little store. With a bank that has the look and feel of an old western Bank. Where the tellers are caged behind twisted iron bars. I had a chopped beef barbecue bun with potato salad. It was delicious. I found that they sold a rarity Dr. Pepper made with real cane sugar. If you all are in the area you should stop in.

My first time to The Hunt store. What a gem hidden in the Hill Country.

It's not just a general store. You can get quick service meals like burgers and pizza and there is also a wonderful full service restaurant with a menu that would challenge any big city restaurants.

Chef Blas is an amazing chef. He creates some interesting dishes with a flair from his home country of Mexico where he grew up watching his mother cook. One of the appetizers I had was a crunchy shrimp with a avocado mole sauce. For dinner I had a thin cut flank steak topped with a red and green chimiccuri sauce with
