The Henderson Harbor Yacht Club (HHYC) is a family oriented, volunteer-based yacht club that promotes boating and social activities, water safety, and serves as a center for camaraderie in Henderson Harbor. Our prime location on the eastern shore of Lake Ontario puts us in close proximity to the Thousand Islands, Kingston, and Bay of Quinte.
The club house overlooks beautiful Henderson Harbor. It features a dining room, kitchen, bar, sun porch men's and women's heads with hot showers and changing areas. Outside patio, large shade trees with picnic tables and lawn chairs. Charcoal grills are available for use. There are 20 slips for annual lease, and adequate transient dockage.
Henderson Harbor Yacht Club was first founded in the 1930's. May Robinson and John Jones were members and May's father Morton Picksley. They sailed International Dingies. No club house that I know of. People got together in 1947 and founded our current club led by Heiny Rouse our first commodore. The club opened on a dock and small building lent to use by Dr. Tyler a dentist in Adams.
The Chairman of the Entertainment Committee has asked me to say something about the object of this dinner tonight. In my opinion, the Chairman was ill advised, as you will no doubt shortly realize. Probably you have heard of the speaker at the dinner during which he lost the manuscript of his prepared address.
The name of this club shall be the Henderson Harbor Yacht Club. The object of the club shall be to provide a club house and other facilities for the promotion of sailing, good sportsmanship and fellowship among its members.
