Carol and I entered the knitting machine business in 1981 after seeing a program on TV called PM Magazine. This program showed a machine that "ate" lots of yarn. We were already in the wholesale yarn and sewing notions business, and this gave us the opportunity to spread our wings in a new way. So, with no experience in knitting machines, I became a dealer for Toyota and taught Carol to machine knit.
We later added Singer, KnitKing, Superba, Brother, Passap, Artisian, and Silver Reed machines. For almost twenty years we held national seminars and hundreds of classes on the machines. After two decades, the Silver Reed and the Artisian machines are the only ones still being manufactured. The yarn business also slowed down in the 90's.

I took my Brother 4000d to this dealer for the guy to fix it. It had skipped stitches, the stitch alignment was off and embroidery unit needed to be cleaned and the machine just desperately needed to be serviced.
I paid $160 for the repair. It took 3 weeks when they told me it would take two. I go make the hour+ drive to pick it up from the repair shop and pay $160 and get it home and am using it and the stitch alignment is still wrong, all of the flower stitches were lopsided and looked nothing like flowers.
I was furious that after all of that time and money they did not even address the problems
