My name is Chad Szpunar. In 2006 I started Chad's Tree & Shrub Service in Albuquerque, NM. I started the company from the ground up with a truck and a chainsaw. In 2014 I decided to sell and relocate my family to beautiful Colorado. While building my company I fell in love with tree work, and over the past 12 years I have developed a passion for tree care that I never thought imaginable.

Yes, I am one of those who truly loves the work they do every day. Upon moving to Castle Rock I continued my tree career as a foreman for a very large company in the Denver area. I noticed quickly with the company I worked for and with other companies in the area that production outweighed quality.

A comprehensive care plan for your trees by a certified arborist. Plant Health Care requires working with the landscape and environment to help create a balanced growing site for trees and shrubs to flourish. There are many objectives of pruning in the urban landscape. The foremost objective is to prolong the functional life expectancy of trees.
Plant Health Care requires working with the landscape and environment to help create a balanced growing site for trees and shrubs to flourish. Compromising long-term plant health care for short-term aesthetics can often result in the over-all decline of the plants health. It's important to have an Arborist regularly monitor your landscape to assess the health of your trees.
The Emerald Ash Borer (EAB) is an invasive insect native to Asia that showed up in Michigan in 2002. Since its arrival it has killed tens of millions of Ash trees in 22 states across North America and threatens to wipe out another 8.7 billion. South Denver and Douglas County is home to over 1.5 million Ash trees.
Water is essential to trees and shrubs. In Douglas County and across the front range we receive around 40% the national average of moisture in a given year. Winter snow storms can be far and few between with periods of long, hot dry spells. Without enough soil moisture trees will become dehydrated, stop growing, and go into decline.
In Douglas County and across the front range our soils are not known to be fertile. Typically, the soils are compacted clay that have very little nutrients and organic matter. Clay soils restrict water flow, limit the movement of oxygen and carbon monoxide in the root zone, and restrict root growth.

Morgan, Nathan, and Tyler were great at removing a 30 year old cottonwood from our backyard. We have several other trees and they were very careful not to damage them during this removal. The cottonwood was right next to the fence and they protected it the whole time. Recommend these guys to anyone that needs tree care or removal done right.

We hired Great Western upon the recommendation of friends and
we could not be happier. Morgan, Nathan and Chris arrived on time
and ready to climb very difficult trees. Our trees look great and we
know we won't be pulling fallen limbs off our neighbors roof. We will
use them from this point on. Thank You

I had a great experience with GWTC. Chris, Morgan and Nathan did a really great job. They were personable and completed the large job in a very timely manner. I wanted to give it a couple of days after the service to comment and see how it help up. Well we had a huge storm roll through with Tornado warnings and although the largest tree did loose some branches (it is a cottonwood), it did not loose any branches over 1/2 inch. It really shows how good of a job they did with the trimming. The other trees didn't loose any, showing they did good all around. I plan to use them again.

From start to finish, the team at Great Western Tree Care was amazing to work with for our project. Stephanie was timely with correspondence and answered questions with our proposal.
Chris, Nathan and Tyler were amazing! They not only took care of the items in the bid in a professional manner, but their knowledge and ability to address concerns that we had with some other plants and small trees was outstanding. I have hired other companies in the past and have not had the best experiences. I will only use Great Western Tree Care in the future.
Just great and knowledgeable people to work with

We typically use a standard landscaping company once a year to shape our trees and bushes and cleanup our yard. After the last two harsh winters, we called Great Western Tree Care. They were timely and professional with their response and estimate. We signed up for a spring and fall service. Chris and Nathan did the spring pruning/trimming today. They were professional, knowledgable and did a great job. There was a noticeable difference in all of our trees. We were also very happy with the team that did the fertilization and injection. We are looking forward to the results and upcoming treatments

I've used Great Western for the past 2 tree jobs I've had. Absolutely can't recommend them enough. The crew who came (Chris, Grant, and 3 other guys) were the most skilled, hardworking team ever. My tree was a super sketchy 65+ ft elm tree hanging over power lines. The team took it down perfectly, and safely in about 4-5 hours. If you have tree needs large or small don't hesitate 1 second to hire this team!
