Jes is the proud owner of Iron Quill Tattoo. He is an award-winning tattoo artist who has been tattooing for a total of fifteen years since his daughter was born in 2003. His passion for art began at a very young age and after first learning what a tattoo was, he knew he would be covered in them. Being a collector, as well as an artist, helps him design visually stunning tattoos that he himself would be proud to wear.
Maddie has been fascinated by all things cosmetic since she was a young girl. From playing with her Mom's makeup and being surprisingly good at it to pretending to be a hairstylist in her Aunt's hair salon, Maddie was preparing herself for a life in Cosmetology with out even knowing it. After receiving her Cosmetology license from Paul Mitchell she went to work in a salon.
Wash thoroughly with a mild bar soap (avoid scents, exfoliating beads, loofahs, and washcloths). Although performed in a clean environment with single use and/or sterile equipment, tattoos begin as open wounds and it is possible to get them infected. Not washing your hands all day, and then touching the tattoo, for example, could cause infection.
Since delicate skin or sensitive areas may swell slightly, or redden, it is advised not to make social plans for the same day. If you draw on your eyebrows, please wear your drawn eyebrows to the procedure and bring your favorite eyebrow pencil.
If you have any serious medical conditions such as diabetes, hemophilia, skin diseases, epilepsy, seizures, fainting, narcolepsy, HIV, hepatitis, heart problems, etc., please ask your physician for clearance.Stop using Retin-A or AHA products (Alpha-hydroxy acids include glycolic, lactic, tartaric, malic, and citric acids) for 2 weeks prior to the procedure.

Top notch in every way. Sogdiana did extensive, intricate work on my arm over several all day appointments. I am blown away by her ability to maintain top quality work as hours go by.
Add to that, Iron Quill has a wonderful and welcoming environment. Everyone I meet there seems like a friend I've known for years.
I could not think of a complaint if I tried.

Awesome shop to get tattooed. Very welcoming and relaxing environment. All the artists and staff are so nice and put you at ease from the moment you walk in. Appointments are well organized and on time and it was one of the best tattoo sessions I've ever had. Can't wait to go back next month to continue work on my half sleeve with Kylie. Thanks all!

I had the best experience with Bexx at Iron Quill. I did removal sessions on my tattoo and then worked with Bexx on a coverup. I gave her my ideas and inspiration and she did a fantastic job creating something so beautiful, exactly what I wanted AND you cannot even tell it is a coverup. I did a walk-in for a small project a few days ago and Amy was just awesome. From the moment I arrived I felt welcomed. The experience was smooth and professional. Plus the tattoo is gorgeous! Honestly it went so far that Amy asked for consent before starting and let me know I could have breaks if needed. Badass and kind. Thank you!

Beware!!!! I had an appointment to get background color on an existing tattoo by Kylie. The consult was good. During the work I felt like she was more focused on chatting with another tattoo artist then focusing on the work. She would stop frequently to elaborate a story or talk about all the things she owned and places she had lived. The tattoo work ended abruptly when her next appointment walked in. She charged me $200 an hour! I paid it but expected that I would have any issues getting a touch up for the work. Iron Quill has let me know she will only be in one week for the rest of the year and

It's been months and I've debated putting this up. Let's just say that I'm really glad that the microblading for eyebrows is semi-permanent. The outer ends of my eyebrows have these blotches that look like someone dabbed them on with a crayon. The inner "ends" of my eyebrows are pale, barely there. So I have to lay on the makeup throughout in order to blend in the blotches and the "barely there" areas. Why get microblading when you have to cover it up with makeup?

The shop is clean and the staff were all very pilot and nice, but the reason I'm giving such a low review is because when my artist, Janelle, went to another shop they told me they had no idea where she went and then tried to get me to book a session with another artist to work on my already in progress piece. FYI if anyone else runs into this Janelle is over at Rockwell Tattoo.

Janelle was amazing! Her design software was not working when I arrived, and she free handed a stunning design even more beautiful than I expcected! Okay, let me start off by telling you that I have 10 or so tattoos from Janelle and have travelled just so I could get a new tattoo from her. I have never once been disappointed! She's understanding and artistic when t comes to your ideas and designs. I've never been let down or underwhelmed. Not to mention while you are getting tattooed, she is great company and always makes sure you are comfortable. If all of that doesn't have you convinced to go in and get a new piece of artwork- maybe you should know that she has also won awards at tattoo conventions! Yup, she's that freaking

Went in today and after some honest & much appreciated advice (not always easy to find) from Jes about the 2 "ideas" I had, decided to remove the lyrics from the leg sleeve, and have them be a piece by themselves with room to add on down the road.
I couldn't be happier with what we've started to do and highly recommend anyone, newbies or tattoo

Janelle is amazing! I felt completely at ease and comfortable even though what I wanted was simple and small. She was patient with me when I wanted to go smaller than I initially chose. She has a talented light hand--it didn't hurt at all. She is also an amazing artist! Next time I will have less of an exact idea of what I want and put the art concept into her hands. She is easy to talk to and funny! The shop is modern and immaculate. Would 100% go back and recommend to friends.

My experience at The Iron Quill was better than 5-stars. I was a little disappointed at first that I had to wait a few weeks to get in with Janelle but she was well worth the wait!
Janelle has a very funny laid back personality that made me feel instantly comfortable and I loved the conversation. The salon was very clean and the people so friendly. At my initial consult I explained my ideas for what I wanted and what she designed was absolutely perfect. I can't say enough positive things about my experience and I'm already thinking about what I want next time. Thank you Janelle

The shop is very clean and well maintained. Every employee was very professional and kind.
My mother got her first tattoo and Janelle walked her through every step. She took the time with us to draw up exactly what we wanted and was very patient in helping us decide the perfect design.

Brooke is AMAZING. I wasn't 100% about styling and placement of what I wanted, I just knew I wanted it to be dainty. I had no idea that it was even possible to get a tattoo this delicate with lines so thin, so I was unsure going in if I could actually get what I wanted.
But Brooke proved me wrong and gave me exactly what I wanted - it's PERFECT and super delicate!! My next tat is definitely going to be back with her...best tattoo experience I've ever had!

My first tattoo ever (yep even though I'm in my 30s...); been wanting one for a while but hadn't yet found the perfect place or come up with "the perfect design". A friend of mine and all the positive reviews really sold Iron Quill for me, and it didn't disappoint!
I used the consult form, said "please pick my artist", and was paired with Joe Anderson - I couldn't have been more amazed with his design for my idea ("cute snapping turtle"). I get so many compliments (cuteness, colors, "looks real!", etc.). And I love working with an artist

This is a CLEAN, professional, cool shop where everyone is friendly! I came here and was tattooed by the Joe A. I am completely satisfied with how my tattoo came out and I love it. Joe had a great idea and came up with an awesome concept I couldn't have myself.
They play good music here too which I really appreciated. Everyone seems to really love coffee there and I think I heard they are coming out with their own coffee line! Joe was nice enough to offer me some while I waited for him to prep his station. I'll definitely be getting more work done here.

I started looking at reviews and following some Madison area shops on Facebook, and a post from Iron Quill caught my eye. Audra is an apprentice and posted some drawings she had been doing of fruit and I knew she was the right gal for me! I have numerous tattoos of food, so I thought I'd add some more to my growing collection.

The tattoo artists from Iron Quill do great work. I got my first tattoo done by Jes over the last month. I was nervous going in, but he was really nice and made the experience a good one. Jes has been tattooing for 12 years and knows how to design a truly flattering piece of art. I gave him some inspiration and trusted him to design the rest. This was a great way to do it.
