Underground Carpenter
The Underground Carpenter is owned and operated by Antonio "Devon" Thibeault (pronounced "TEE-bow"), a custom cabinet and furniture maker. I work closely with each client to determine your specific needs-to get a feel for your tastes, and how you imagine the final result. Then, I design a combination of style, form, and function to fit your particular space, and fulfill your vision and needs.

Sometimes this involves coming up with an entirely new design. Sometimes it means looking at an old space or existing unit with fresh eyes, to repurpose it, and make it new again. Each project has its particular challenges. Each poses its own set of options. My job is to work with you so you know what those options are.

We are in the process of migrating content from an earlier website to this one, so the Galleries section is currently a work in progress. Please stay tuned as we add and update content. Your space and needs are unique. Let me bring my more than twenty years of experience to help you make the most of them!
Do you have a tricky space, where nothing quite fits and you can't make full and effective use of it? Do you have existing cabinets or built-ins that no longer work for the needs you now have? Are you looking for ways to maximize space in every room of your house? Storage is often a problem, which the right built-in can help you to solve.
My deepest goal is to craft heirloom-quality furniture for your home or office. I work to integrate the most aesthetically and functionally suited materials with an artistic approach and exceptional execution. The pieces I craft for you are the outcome of in-depth discussions with you, to which I then apply my experience in the designing and making of custom furniture and interiors.
What I do have is a keen appreciation for the importance of storage that gives you designated spaces for all of your needs, and allows you to find things quickly and conveniently. It must also express your particular taste. Whether you want an old closet remodeled, a brand new closet altogether, or an unused space converted into storage, it's all possible, as these three examples illustrate.
In addition to writing posts about the history of the house and the steps we're taking to renovate it, I'm also going to write periodic posts explaining how I do things. Here I'm going to go through how I did some of the door framing, focusing on the downstairs bathroom. Our First Water The house had no water.
