When your daily life is hampered by your foot pain, call our trusted podiatrists at Tuscany Podiatry in Tuscaloosa, AL. We can treat any type of foot injury you sustain whether from intense activity, exercise, an accident or continual impact over time. To support our patients, we are open and available to all walk-ins and be seen right away.
Services
A podiatrist is an extensively trained physician that treats ailments of the foot and ankle. Dr. Patricia Antero specializes in the treatment of conditions affecting the foot, as well as expertly diagnosing, preventing, and healing various foot injuries. While many podiatric treatments are simple with minimal recovery, others may require surgery and may require some rehabilitation.
Hammertoe is the general term used to describe an abnormal contraction or "buckling" of the toe because of a partial or complete dislocation of one of the joints of the toe or the joint where the toe joins with the rest of the foot. As the toe becomes deformed, it rubs against the shoe and the irritation causes the body to build up more and thicker skin to help protect the area.
An ingrown toenail is a painful condition of the toe. Any toenail can become ingrown, but the condition is usually found in the big toe. It occurs when a sharp corner of the toenail digs into the skin at the end of or side of the toe. Pain and inflammation at the spot where the nail digs into the skin occurs first.
Neuroma is swelling or scarring of a small nerve that connects two of your toes that provides sensation. The area may be hot or very swollen and, just as mysteriously, the symptoms can disappear and reappear. At first, the pain is only present when weight bearing in tight shoes. As it gets worse, spontaneous shooting pains, often like electric shocks, can be felt even when you're off your feet.
Peripheral neuropathy is a disease of the nerves in your feet. The sensation in your feet will decrease and you will notice a lack of feeling in your hands and feet. This lack of pain makes you more likely to get injured without knowing it. Peripheral neuropathy can result from such problems as traumatic injuries, infections, metabolic problems and exposure to toxins.

I am very impressed with this office and staff. Everyone was friendly and helpful from beginning to end. The office was neat and clean and I felt like my feet were in great hands. I'm telling everyone I know to go see Dr. Antero and staff. They are so caring and very knowledgeable to rectify my foot problem as other doctors have not.

Had an appointment at 0930. 5 people arrived after me. A couple of them over 40 minutes later. Every one of them was called back before me. At 1100 and hour and a half after my appointment I got up and demanded my co pay back. They were quick to take my money but not to see me. I will not be returning to this place!!!

Good service on my first visit but most recently they have been horrible. I had an ingrown toenail removed, it went well but I have been waiting over a month for antibiotics on a solid prescription that didn't cost nearly $200 on top of the nearly $100 of other medication. Not everyone is a millionaire.

Can you give negative stars? Because I would. Nice building on the outside. Inside you freeze to death waiting. I had a 3:30 appointment. I got there at 3:15 like I was asked to to do my first time appointment paperwork and I waited for an hour and fifteen minutes before being called back. I was referred to them by another doctor who had already done an X-ray but the immediately did m X-ray and sat me in a chair. I waited for two hours and still had not seen a doctor. I was in pain because I had had major surgery a couple of weeks ago and was getting extremely restless. And I got very aggravated

Dr. Antero & the staff are wonderful. They are kind, caring, and extremely professional. A rare combination in the medical community. Dr. Antero has provided post-surgery direct care for months and I am so grateful for her compassion and care. I absolutely trust her and her staff. They are so worth any waiting room wait time!

My first appointment, I had a 2+ hour wait. My second appt, Dr. Antero literally talked on her cell phone and texted regarding a personal issue while treating me. I was appalled by the lack of attention and professionalism she exhibited. I felt unsure that she was actually paying attention to my problem. While I understand having a personal issue, I believe a medical provider should excuse herself and not be on her phone during a patient visit. It was, frankly, outrageous. I will not be returning.

Love this place !! They take the time to make sure you understand what's going on and what your options are. In a world full of doctors who rush you through and treat you like a number, it's nice to see that some still have genuine concern for their patients !! I highly recommend Tuscany Podiatry to anyone who is ready to put foot pain or problems behind them !!

Made an appointment here because I had a recommendation for Doctor Antero. My appointment was at 4:30 in the afternoon and when I walked in at 4:15 the waiting room was packed out! The office staff seemed clueless about everything especially about when they thought I could be seen. At 5, when I had only seen one person called back I indicated that I was going to leave and they just handed me a card and said to make another appointment. I will be trying another office!
