This is the first question we hear from just about everyone. At Grumpy's Drains, we try not to be grumpy people. Our name is "Grumpy's Drains" because we figure people get grumpy when their drains are clogged! Our mascot, Grumpy, is a buffalo and he is tough on drains! We like to keep things a little bit light because people aren't always in the best mood when they call us, so we do what we can to put a smile on people's faces.
The owners, Keith and Rita, are originally from Tennessee, but moved to Oregon 28 years ago because they loved the people, the attitude, and all the wonderful outdoor activities in Portland and the surrounding areas. Notice Grumpy's Drains is no longer performing services on interior drains. We are focusing only on exterior drains such as Rain Drains, Main sewer lines and other outside drains. Grumpy's Drains does not perform plumbing. We just clean your drains. There are two types of piping in your house: supply pipes that brings water into your house, and drain waste lines that take the water and waste out of there.

The sewer line is - by far - your home's most important plumbing component. If you've ever wondered where all the water you produce by flushing toilets, taking showers, or washing dishes ends up, it's in the sewer line - this is the pipe that carries that wastewater down into your city's local sewer.
If there's one part of the home you probably don't think about much, it'd have to be the gutters. You know they're there, and that they need to be cleaned sometimes, but what you may not realize is how important they are. Gutters protect your home from runaway rainwater that can lead to leaks, ruined landscaping, or even cracks in your foundation.
Grumpy's Drains, we'd love to have X-ray vision. Since we don't, we have cameras that we can use to inspect your clogged rain drains. The camera can tell us what's down there, so we can know what the issue is. Many times, we will be able to clear the line, but things are still having issues. There might be a break in the pipe or there might be a root that's blocking everything up.

Amazing experience with Grumpy’s! Called on Friday and got an appointment first thing Monday morning. The owner Keith showed up right on time. He scoped, jetted (even found a lot of roots in one pipe) and cleaned out my downspouts. He was very knowledgeable, workable and kind. Will defiantly use again and recommend.

Keith was great. I had clogged rain drains, and it was not an easy job but he stuck with it until he found the problem and it was resolved. They were on-time, responsive, professional and had the right equipment. Highly recommended!!

I am very pleased to recommend Grumpys. We had a blocked drain that was causing quite a mess Memorial Day evening. I called this morning, talked to Rita about the issue, and Keith was out within the hour. Less than an hour later, the job was done, the cause identified, and I’m a very happy customer! Highly recommend!

I had some clogged drains in my basement and called Grumpy's Drains. Keith was able to come out the morning and was on time and ready to go.
My house is older with narrower pipes and he had to do the process twice to get them clear. There was no extra charge for the extra work.
I am a happy customer and would definitely recommend.

I couldn't be happier. Had a clog in my tub, mainly due to my cat throwing things down the drain, and gave Grumpy's a call. I got a call back within 45 minutes APOLOGIZING for not calling me back sooner. And an appointment the next morning at 9 am. (It was already 3 pm that day.)
Both the woman on the phone, and the man who came out to do the work (husband and wife) were efficient and helpful, the work was done quickly, and he even showed me how to pull some parts off my tub and take a look myself next time so I don't have to call him.

We had a slow drain in our tub that was only getting slower, and when my wife and I had to bail out the water from taking a morning shower just so there wouldn't be standing water for a long while, I decided it was time to call a professional. I saw the positive reviews for Grumpy's Drains, and gave them a call. Rita called me back in no time and was able to set up an appointment window for later that day. Keith arrived early in that window, and took care of the drain in no time! They were upfront about the costs and were great to work with! Highly recommend!

Hired Grumpy's Drains to come and hydro-jet and scope our downspout/rain drain that I found out was cut and had root intrusion problems. The damage caused by the large roots turned out to be too severe and Keith wasn't able to get it unclogged. That being said, he was able to clean out the rest of the line and was professional, friendly and very helpful with a few suggestions about how we should fix the pipe. Would definitely recommend Grumpy's Drains.

Grumpy's was able to come to my house within a day to remove a toy phone from the drain that my child had flushed. Conner showed up and was really friendly and quick with the removal. They provided me a quite before arriving and stuck with that quote, unlike some places who told me that couldn't give me a quote without being on-site first.
I would highly recommend Grumpy's, and hopefully I don't have to use them again for anything, but if I do, I will know to call them ASAP and that the work will be done well.

I was really pleased with their service. I called to schedule and appointment early in the morning, and they were able to come out that same day - in fact they came 2 hours after I had made the call. The technician really knew what he was doing and fixed the blockage quickly and ran my water for awhile to make sure it was all clear (which I totally appreciated). They were really well priced, it was a fixed rate. I had called other plumbers in the area, and either they didn't have time in their schedules until next week, or they had to come out to assess the situation before doing anything

Another plumber referred me to them after he replaced a utility sink. The drain to the sink was clogged and my plumber didn't have drain clearing tools. They quoted me a fixed price of $178 to clear the drain and came out on time a couple of days later.
You can obviously find less expensive services but I was in a hurry to get this done so went with the plumber's recommendation so I have no complaints about paying a premium.

Scheduling was super easy. The plumber called to see if he could come a couple hours early. I wasn't available and he was understanding. He was running a little behind due to traffic and called to let me know.
Both the people who came where very friendly and polite.
They fixed my tub even though I could tell it was a challenging job.
My only complaint was they left a bit of sludge on my bathroom walls, bathroom floor, bathtub, and floor just outside the bathroom.
I would use them again, as well as recommend them, but ask first is it's customary to clean up after they are done.

Not very happy with the service result from Grumpy's drains. The technician was very nice and pleasant (albeit 30 minutes late to the appt) but I gave him a pass on that.
Being that my husband and I just bought our house we weren't super familiar with what was a drain and what wasn't so I asked him to unclog one outside drain for sure and look at 2 interior ones that looked like they drained as there was water pooling there. He blew out the outside drain and that is draining now. But he looked at the two interior ones and ran a cable through to see if they were connecting to

The best companies not only fix the issue at hand but also educate the customer. Grumpy's is one of these companies.
Keith came out to clear out our line which drains laundry and the kitchen sink. He cleared it in short order. He then described the causes of the buildup and what we could do to prevent it in the future. I felt confident in his expertise and was very happy with his professionalism and efficiency.

With all the Yelp "5-Star ratings" and glowing testimonials, I gave GRUMPY's DRAINS a call to clear my sewer line today.
I explained the problem carefully to the office lady, who seemed rushed to just get my name and address and send out a service technician.
Keith arrived ahead of schedule (great with me).
But, when I explained the situation to him -- the over-the-phone estimate of $115 immediately grew to $211.
Keith did find roots in the line, the cause of the problem. He showed me a clump of roots he said
