Services
Since its founding, Harbor House has served as a beacon of hope to those lost in the grips of addiction and to the families searching for help. With the vision of progressive business and community leaders, Harbor House was established as a non-profit organization in 1973 to address the dire need for affordable and accessible community-based residential substance abuse treatment.
The mission of CARF is to promote the quality, value, and optimal outcomes of services through a consultative accreditation process that centers on enhancing the lives of the persons served. CARF accredited service providers enjoy international recognition for their commitment to excellence.

Third-party payers, governmental agencies, and the public at-large recognize CARF accreditation as a demonstration of accountability and conformance to internationally accepted standards that promote excellence in your services. The value of CARF accreditation is more than a certificate hanging on the wall.
The first phase of recovery at Harbor House for individuals interested in overcoming addictive behaviors and lifestyles is the Primary Care Residential Program. We have a separate program for female and male residents, and clients are expected to commit to a minimum of 30 days in residence. We recommend a longer stay, which may be granted depending upon individual needs, progress and goals.
Harbor House provides routine on-site nursing services. All clients admitted to the Primary Care Residential Treatment Program undergo a comprehensive nursing assessment and medical evaluation by a licensed physician.

In some cases, the Treatment Team or nursing personnel require that a client who may be at risk of a significant physical withdrawal, such as when an individual ceases alcohol and benzodiazepine consumption after an extended period of use, undergo a medically supervised detoxification to ensure that the client's medical needs do not exceed our on-site resources.
Harbor House realizes that Residential Treatment is only the beginning to long term recovery. We, therefore, offer a continuing care program, Recovery Support Services, for both males and females upon completion of Residential Treatment Services. As part of post-treatment continuing care, Recovery Support is available.
