Services
The New Bern area and its abundant waterways are a natural magnet for boating enthusiasts. NBYC's waterfront property has panoramic views of scenic Brices Creek and the Trent River. The picturesque Trent flows to the Neuse River, enabling access to the Intracoastal Waterway and Atlantic Ocean. Our attractive clubhouse and grounds offer an ideal gathering place for members.
Over the years, the club membership has grown and it became evident that the little yacht clubhouse had to grow with it. Member Charles Bacon drew up the plans for an addition. Again, members manned hammers, saws and paint brushes and also provided the money necessary for this project. Bonds were issued to cover the costs.
The New Bern Yacht Club built and gifted a bulletin board to the local West Marine store where announcements regarding local boating events and information could be posted. Pictured are NBYC Commodore Tim Broderick and West Marine Store Manager Jim Simmons. The New Bern Yacht Club recently celebrated its 25th anniversary.
Membership in NBYC is open to families and individuals who are interested in sharing, exploring, learning, and enjoying boating and water activities in Eastern North Carolina. Year-round roster of local and long-distance cruises for sail, power and "oar driven" boats (Including spontaneous water outings affectionately known as "flash" cruises)!.
