D. Cole Jewelers is a small, family owned and operated jewelry store in the Old Port of Portland, Maine since 1981. It was started by Dean and Denise Cole after they had been selling jewelry at craft shows in college and over their summers starting in 1977. They opened their first seasonal store in 1980 in Saco and moved to the Old Port in 1981.
They have remained there and expanded twice within the same space. Their family has grown to include their son Ryan, daughter Emily, daughter-in-law Lindsey, and Denise's brother Jeff. More than just for engagements and weddings, the right ring can express your individuality and style more than any other piece of jewelry.

At award-winning D. Cole Jewelers, we specialize in beautifully handcrafted platinum, gold, and sterling silver pieces. Our 3 on staff jewelers create custom one of a kind pieces as designed by our customers. Our competitive pricing is due to the fact that we design and manufacture our own pieces. All of the repair work and custom designing that we do is all done in house at our visible jeweler's shop that you can see when visiting the store.
At D. Cole Jewelers we have the ability to custom create a piece of jewelry for you - whether its an engagement ring, an anniversary gift, corporate/company logo jewelry or recreating an existing item. Custom jewelry adds significant labor costs. When we build a piece for our cases, we typically make multiples and this allows us to spread the cost of the original design across all of the pieces made.
Cole Jewelers has been a wonderful mainstay in the Old Port since I was a young girl growing up in Southern Maine. Even though I live in Washington DC, I chose D. Cole to design a combination setting for the tanzanite & diamonds my husband gave me as engagement and wedding stones. Their distinctive collection of uniquely designed jewelry, wholesome reputation and personable customer service are just a few of the reasons I selected D. Cole.

I had such a great experience at D. Cole this holiday season! A woman by the name of Bonnie really helped my find the perfect the perfect gift. She was personable, engaging, knowledgable on the product. She also presented well! I really loved my experience and D. Cole is so lucky to have such a great employee like Bonnie! I truly had the best shopping and customer service experience of my life at D Cole Jewelers! I find that jewelry shopping can be intimidating and stressful, but not at D Cole. They have created an immediately welcoming, warm, and laid back environment that immediately puts you at ease.
I went in to select wedding bands and also to get advice on some older pieces I already had. The selection of pieces D Cole carries are varied and beautiful and there are options for every budget. And looking through the pieces I brought in was such fun, with the different jewelers popping over to take a look and

I've been shopping at this jewelry store for over 25 years and it never disappoints. Their collection of unique jewelry at all prices points is amazing for such a small store. I got a ring resized here and could not have had a better experience. Every staff member I worked with was so knowledgeable and helpful from sizing my finger to figuring out the uncommon metal in the ring, etc., and they did the work very quickly. They know what they're doing, and they do it well. Highly recommend!

I was recommended D.Cole by my grandmother in hopes of taking her engagement ring to be "reinvented" for my own engagement proposal. She had visited the shop decades ago when she lived in the area.
As others can relate, discussing/finding/creating an engagement ring is tricky... not having a clear idea of what "would be best" while also not breaking the bank is a tough balance.
Needless to say (check the 5 stars), working with Ryan from d.cole was SUPER helpful. He was a great listener, informational, easy to contact, asked all the right questions, and did not once hurry or pressure the process

I brought in my engagement ring that had been purchased through another jeweler who wasn't locally based. D. The folks at D. Cole Jewelers are the BEST! I brought my engagement ring in to be repaired after the band had split (it had previously been soldered by a different jeweler), and when they returned it to me it looked even better than it had before. My fiancé and I have since bought our weddings bands from them, and will continue to be lifelong customers. The entire D. Cole team is so helpful and friendly -- they really make their customers feel taken care of. I can't recommend them enough!

I am so impressed with D. Cole through my whole ring design process that I would be remiss to not reference my childhood. My dad always "had a guy" that he was loyal to when it came to buying or designing jewelry. He would happily go into Neilsen's in Lorain, Ohio, on a regular basis. My fiancé and I were ring shopping for his wedding band and we found exactly what we wanted online. However, it was a wholesale-only website that sold to brick and mortar retailers; we couldn't buy it direct. I put in my zip code and good news! Five local jewelers were listed as being retailers that could custom order the ring if they didn't already carry it in their offerings.
I called those five stores (three of which are in the Old Port) and gave them all the exact same manufacturer stock number, ring size and metal specifications. There are no diamonds or other unique properties

I have always loved trees..so much that I named my son Forrest. When I was 12 years old, we visited family in Portland (we live in NJ) and my mom bought me the tree of life ring. I never took it off. As the years went by I would get it sized to fit my finger as I grew. When I was 27, I took it off to do something and it has been lost ever since. I never got over it because it meant so much to me. I lost my engagement ring in the ocean, and had a new platinum and diamond ring made using a diamond my mom had -- she was very nervous about handing her diamond over, but the owner and jeweler, Dean spoke to her at length and eased any concern she had -- she knew that her diamond was in good hands. We have been going to d. cole for years and we've never been disappointed. We have purchased numerous pieces from the store and they helped us do a custom design to match my 1920's engagement ring. It is perfect! The staff is friendly and knowledgeable. There aren't a lot of actual jewelers left that custom design and produce goods, so it's always a treat to go in and look at what's new!

D. Cole is the only place that my fiancé and I go!! They were recommended a couple years ago when my fiancé was looking to buy me a pandora bracelet and when the clasp broke just over a year later they fixed it in less than 2 days. My fiancé purchased my engagement ring from them last week and it's the most BEAUTIFUL ring, the size was off and when we brought it in they realized immediately that it was their mistake. Resized it within 5-6 hours at no cost to us! So friendly and accommodating, we will definitely be going back to D. Cole for our wedding bands and any other future purchases

This place is just wonderful. My fiancé and I picked out our wedding bands here and I could not be happier. The quality of their jewelry is top notch. Best of all, their customer service is A+++. They don't pressure you to buy anything, instead they take their time talking through decisions and teaching you about the options. They will provide as little or as much assistance as you'd like. I feel so good about my decision to buy here. The owner and his son are so kind and awesome you wish you were a part of their family. Would give it 6 stars if I could.

I really like D Cole jewelers. They have such a great selection of jewelry there, it takes a while to browse all the cases. This is a family-run operation and they are very experienced jewelers.
Their pricing is reasonable, you'll maybe pay a tad more for something here than at the corporate warehouse jewelry stores, but it's worth it! I just wish they were opening later during the week (or on Sundays) as getting to them during business hours is a bit tough for me.

Walking in with a 17 month old covered in lemon tea cake and leaving a frosting covered trail behind her, we were welcomed with smiles. Concerned about our daughters incredible ability to leave crumbs everywhere, the staff reassured us that they would take care of any mess she left and that it was perfectly fine for her to run free. We searched the display cases for half an hour while the toddler ran around "talking" to customers and shrieking with joy from being free to roam in a crowd of people.
