Services
Before beginning the approval process for weight loss surgery, it is important to discuss your decision with your loved ones. Make sure that the people close to you know that you are serious about your decision to undergo weight loss surgery and that you need their support.

If it is difficult to find supportive people in your life, it can be helpful to speak with a therapist, since they can help you with problem-solving strategies, including dealing with interpersonal problems.During the approval process for surgery, you will need to have an evaluation of your mental health, so having a relationship with a therapist before you begin the approval process for surgery can be advantageous.
To schedule a surgeon consult appointment, we encourage you to start by viewing the online seminar. Feel free to contact our Bariatric Initial Care Specialist at (913) 948-5370 or email us at packet@kcbariatric.com if you have any questions. We wanted to inform you the city is working on road improvements and the NB K-7 exit ramp to Prairie Star Parkway will be closed for approximately 30 days.
America currently has an obesity epidemic. Obesity is now considered the number one threat to public health in the United States. Over two-thirds of adults over the age of 20 in the U.S. are considered overweight, and over one-third of Americans are obese. Of these, more than 13 million Americans are more than 100 pounds overweight, or severely obese.
BMI stands for Body Mass Index, and is calculated by taking into consideration an individual's weight AND height. It is a measurement of a person's weight relative to their height. Because of differences in size and body composition, using only someone's weight is not the most accurate way to determine whether they need weight loss surgery.
If you have problems and are seeking the most effective way to lose weight long-term, then a bariatric surgery such as the Roux-en-Y gastric bypass, gastric sleeve, or Lap-Band may be for you. If you have undergone a previous weight-loss surgery and have developed complications or weight regain, then revisional surgery may be for you.

I had VSG performed in December 2020 with Dr. Hamilton. I travelled to Lenexa from OKC. What a phenomenal experience! Excellent patient care and follow-up services. Only wish I had done it sooner!

Wonderful facility and staff! They understood that I wanted to work with the dietitian only on an eating plan and respected that. The Doctor gave me all my options and listened. She never ever pushed surgery on me. It's great and I'm losing weight.

All they employees are very friendly, from the front desk to the Dr. I'm still waiting to get my surgery date, but it's very close.

Surgery pre op nurses were rude, dismissive and completely blind sided my husband and I when we arrived that you get no support person pre op. You know when they usually need you the most to keep them calm before a major surgery. Made us feel like I should have dropped him off at the door and left. He wasn't happy and neither was I. It never used to be this way though. Sad to see this change happen.

This was the best medical care I have ever received. From day one they treat you with such respect and dedication. I had my surgery yesterday and everyone was so incredibly nice and knowledge. They were not only kind to me but also kind to my mother who stayed with me. Don't go anywhere else. They are the best and it is clear why.

The staff and the accommodations where outstanding. I have been impressed with Dr. Aragon since our first meeting and I felt completely comfortable putting my situation in his hands. It was an extra bonus being able to have my husband stay with me overnight in the facility. I know that I was in good hands with each person that participated in my care and that’s a great feeling when you face the need to have surgery. I would absolutely recommend The Bariatric Center to others that I come in contact with.

From my first appointment and through surgery this is an amazing professional practice, Kind and extremely organized. They know there stuff and handle it with ease even when you may be freaking out! During the process you are in contact with so many individuals and every single person couldn't have been more compassionate and caring. Thank you all very much!!

I am very disappointed to have to be posting this review, because the staff on the surgery side of KC Bariatric are AMAZING. I had the most incredible surgical team and was extremely happy with my experience. However, my longer-term care with the Nurse Practitioners has been extremely disappointing. In a recent meeting, the Nurse Practitioner proceeded to lecture me about how we can always make excuses and how I can't just put off my weight loss. This "tough love" lecture was right after I had told her that I was struggling because I had just lost a family member in a tragic accident and needed
