Services
Locally owned and operated, Riverside Lodge Retirement Community is a full-service retirement complex. The desire to provide for the housing needs of the area's retirement population was the cornerstone on which Riverside Lodge was founded. We have set the standard for retirement housing in Central Nebraska since 1988 by providing housing and services that focus on meeting the wants and needs of its residents.
Riverside Lodge provides a comfortable home-like setting for those who want their independence but need some assistance with activities of daily living. Our assisted living facility staffing includes licensed practical nurses 24 hours a day. Studio, suite or one and two bedroom apartments that include a convenient kitchenettes with refrigerator, sink, microwave oven, and cabinets.
A respite stay at Riverside Lodge is available to seniors who may need some additional assistance for a short time following a hospital stay or illness. It is also a convenient option when a caregiver needs to be away for business or vacation. Short-term assisted living guests experience all of the services and amenities available to permanent residents.
In June of 1988, Riverside Lodge opened its doors and began serving the senior population. We are proud of the legacy we have built and have set the standard for retirement living in the Grand Island and surrounding area. Our founder, Jan Thayer, was innovative and dedicated to improving the services provided to the senior community.
When Riverside Lodge was founded in 1988, founder Jan Thayer made a commitment that the facility would operate on a set of principles that would set it apart from other retirement housing options in the area. Our Mission is to provide care for each of our residents as though they are the most loved member of our family.

You know a place is the best when employees are excited to have their family members move in! Many of our staff has family members who live here, including me. My grandmother has been here for two years now and she is truly living her best life. The employees are all kind to her and I feel that they genuinely care about her. The activities, nursing care and food are all phenomenal. She could not be at a better place!

We brought my grandmother there because the staff was extremely nice and it so clean. Some places we visited had odors right when you walked in. Later I decided to go to work for them. I’ve been there for two years now with no regrets. We do everything in our power to keep the residents safe and happy.

I brought my Mother to Riverside Lodge to live because I felt it was a comfortable, clean, modern environment with a very caring staff! This was over 10 years ago. She was in Independent Living and then progressed to Assisted Living. We took her to Colorado for 15 months and were unable to find the care she had received at Riverside Lodge so we brought her back. She recuperated from her experience in Colorado with the fine care of the Riverside Lodge staff! Currently several of my friends reside at Riverside Lodge and are happily able to take part in the many activities and competent, friendly
