Thank you for your interest in IVFESA! As the voice of Idaho's Volunteer Emergency Responders, IVFESA provides support, representation, and benefits for members. IVFESA is a vibrant and progressive organization thanks to dedicated members from across Idaho. Legislative Representation - The IVFESA board has been active at the statehouse expressing support for the volunteers in Idaho.
Being a volunteer is a very rewarding experience and a great way to serve your community. Over 1 million Idaho residents live in an area supported by volunteer or combination fire departments. These departments rely on volunteers to protect their communities. Without volunteers, these residents and property are at risk.
IVFESA is active at the Idaho state legislature both monitoring legislation that affects the volunteers in Idaho, as well as pursuing legislative changes to protect and benefit Idaho's Emergency Responders.
In 2016, IVFESA board members worked with the Professional Fire Fighters of Idaho, the Idaho Fire Chiefs Association and the Idaho State Fire Commissioners Association to pass Presumptive Illness legislation that expands Worker's Compensation coverage to include certain cancers diagnosed in fire fighters.
