Gotham's Deli
Scott and Lisa have 6 children (All of whom have, or do work in the deli) and 9 Grand Children. At Gotham's we continue to enjoy serving the people of Johnston County by bringing a taste of New York to the south. Lisa is a master at making "Fresh Made" salads and desserts, a talent which she has passed onto our kids.

Those meats include: Roast Beef, Turkey, Ham, Pastrami, Pepperoni, Corn Beef, and Breaded Chicken. If your in the mood for a "Real NY Sandwich", Hail a Cab, or just stop by downtown Smithfield, NC, You will think your visiting New York City.

Solid sandwich shop. I altered my dish by asking for olives on the turkey sandwich with toasted bread. I also got the broccoli sald...yum!

I lived in NY for 50+ years. The only thing NY style about this is the prices. One small round slice of tomato on each half of a whole sub. All the subs have crazy names so you need to struggle to read the menu 15 feet away on the back wall with 1/2" fonts to see what you're getting on your sandwich. Roast beef was far from Boars Head, being over cooked and dry. Processed yellow American cheese added to my sandwich.. pulled that off right away.. NY deli? No Hellmann's mayonnaise, some no-name brand in packets. Pickles not fresh and crisp. Adding $3.50 to make it a combo is not really the best deal

Not really sure what all the hype is about. Waste of money if you ask me. The sandwich was horrible. My sandwich had more onions then Lettuces and two small pieces of tomatoes on a whole sub which was ridiculous. I took the onions off but it left a really bad taste in my mouth I couldn’t even finish eating. The lettuces seemed to be the bag ones and not even shredded and wasn’t fresh. The cheese seemed to be the package process cheese that you get from the grocery store. Not enough Mayo on the bread. First and last time I will be spending my money at that Establishment. Gave a 2 star because

I've been a regular customer since 2004, back when it was still Gandolfo's. The New York City-themed atmosphere is interesting and fun, and the customer service is outstanding. The sandwiches are absolutely delicious - my favorite is the Soho Chicken Salad - and be sure to try their wonderful potato salad and juicy giant dill pickles. I recommend the meal special, which gets you a sandwich, drink and bag of chips.

Customer service is great. The staff is friendly and welcoming and gives you individual attention even at the busiest times.

I've used them several times for party

This little nugget in downtown Smithfield is don't miss! Tired of fastfood? Go in, head to the counter and the menu is posted behind it - I got the Reuben (I chose mustard over Russian dressing) and the combo which includes a drink and a bag of chips. My other half got an Italian Sammich however he would suggest requesting olive oil & vinegar with salt and pepper instead of the Mayo that came on it. But either way it was super solid sandwiches across the board!

I went to this place after a friend recommended it.
I really enjoyed it! Having it be a mom and pop deli seen from the menu and store decor they give it away. Also they are huge fans fans from what seems baseball (I am not much a fan of sports) it was cute and very 90’s. I ordered the
BLTA: Bacon, Lettuce, Tomato, Avocado, Mayo on Toasted Sourdough. It was amazing delish!! Filled me up for brunch!!
I later picked up my sister from school and was craving another menu item from them. My sister and I split the
Gotham: Turkey, Mushrooms, Swiss, Lettuce, Tomato, Mayo.
I truly think Gotham’s

Great food. Good amount of options for breakfast and lunch. They can make so many different types of sandwiches you won't be disappointed. I usually come here for breakfast and they make it fresh and it's quick service too. They even toast the buns and were able to add avocado to my sandwich. I'm only in town a few times a month for work and I've tried several restaurants and this is by far the cleanest with the best vibes and food. Definitely recommend.

Friendly, local, fresh and authentic with many options and quick service! The cheesecake was amazing. I would have loved to try other options but I was just passing through for the day. Would recommend for anyone visiting this area.

I visited Gotham with a friend while I was in town for a few days. Fun and inviting atmosphere with all the NY memorabilia your heart can desire.
I ordered the turkey ruben called the Rachel and oh boy was it delicious! I grabbed a slice of cheesecake to go and it was amazing. Many options to choose from, so the hardest part was deciding what to get.
You'll definitely want to preplan if your are going to downtown Smithfield, so you'll know where to park.

I'm from you north and their hoagies are very comforting to me. I am not used to hot hoagies, but theirs are great. I always order the large and eat it for 2-3 days. My favorite sub is the ham and cheddar with bacon, mustard, and mayo. Their bbq chicken subs are great too!

I hadn't been to this place since it became Gotham's. We decided to try it out for breakfast one Saturday morning, and we were not disappointed! First off, coffee is a biggie for me. The coffee was great. They had a traditional breakfast menu, but what my husband and I both ordered from was more of a breakfast sandwich menu. Pretty unique from most other breakfast places. Of course, this is a deli, and they're known for their sandwiches. I had a bacon/egg/cheese on a kaiser roll. It was so so good. I know, that sounds like a basic sandwich, but it really was good. Cute little deli with extensive sporting paraphernalia in restaurant. Nice menu and very reasonably priced. I ordered the Reuben because I'm one of those ones that always has to try the Reuben! It was pretty good. Slightly too much butter on rye bread making some areas soggy. Overall I would come back if in the area

Great place for a delicious sub!
I've been swinging by this little place for years! Absolutely delicious subs! The subs are loaded up and the bread is baked to perfection. I've never been disappointed with the food here.
The atmosphere is very open and family friendly. If you're looking for a good sub, this is the place for you.

Best sandwiches. My dad and I always go here when I'm in town. Easy to eat on site or pick up with curbside parking. I haven't had a sandwich there I didn't like, and I'm pretty picky. My dad always loves the Reuben. Great customer service. They had espresso drinks the first time we visited, wish they'd bring that back! Family Owned establishment, give them some business!

Me a a group of moms stopped at Gotham deli today for lunch. This place is not kid friendly at all. There were no high chairs available to use for our little ones. So If you have a toddler that needs a high chair pick another restaurant, take it Togo, or bring your stroller.

Besides not having high chairs it was very hot! I don't know if their A/C wasn't working or if they don't have it. Outside was actually cooler than inside.

Now onto the food. It was good! They have several different sub options. I suggest you look at their menu online before ordering. Their service was quick

Was in downtown Smithfield for an early morning meeting and driving down Market and saw the open sign lit. Came in and had a great omelet and got to see a lot of NY sports history. Mets, Bills, Jets...etc, really cool place! Scott was super accommodating as well! I'll be here the next time I'm in town!

We stopped to spend the night in Smithfield on our road trip up the east coast and went here for dinner because of the good reviews. Wasn't disappointed!

There was no one in the restaurant at 5:30 on a Monday though a few people came in for takeout while we ate. My kids got the grilled cheese (delicious). My Reuben was everything a Reuben should be and I had a bite of my husband's NYC (roast beef) which was excellent, too. My teenage daughter loved her Tri-City sandwich. I ordered the half but it seemed like a whole to me. The kids grilled cheeses were also way bigger than my 10 and

Had the Piazza yesterday and it was excellent! The Italian style sub with mushrooms/onions/marinara/mozzarella was not something I would normally order but decided to try something different. It was like ordering a meat lovers pizza on a thick bread and folding it over. I can't wait to go back and try the other great options on their menu.

Enjoy the Gotham Deli and also the fact that the owner seems to favor the Mets over the Spanks which is a good thing.

Overall I do not have a favorite sandwich as the selection is good overall and have enjoyed all equally that I have ordered.

Granted the Gotham Deli does not service near the size Sammich that one would find in the Boroughs of NY, but your also not paying $20.00 for a F&/)3kn (little NY lingo) sandwich either.

Oh, the lunch rush can remind you of NY though, was there once and the line was just about out the door.

Enjoy!

Want a great Reuben and anywhere near Smithfield, NC, you're stopping at Gotham's Deli. Clearly from NYC, a lot of sports memorabilia on the wall. I'm from New England, but won't hold all the Bills, Yankees, Mets and Knicks stuff against them -- they do have a Doug Flutie poster though!
Again, one of my favorite places, been here about four times now, and make a point of stopping when in the area. Met Steve, very personable! Great food and value! Go Sox!!!

I visited this place on 7/7/17. I'm from out of town visiting friends and they mentioned this place so we decided to go. When stepping into this deli shop it was what imagine a deli in NY to look like. There was great memorabilia covering every inch of the walls and some hanging from the ceiling. The staff was very friendly and the food was awesome. I had the Mr. MET sandwhich and it was so delicious. Also make sure to grab a slice of cheesecake, it's heaven in every little bite. Will definitely eat here again when we come back in town

I am not sure what makes this place a NY Deli. First of all it's now known as Gotham Deli; I assume new owners?
The décor is the same as prior pics; but pretending you run a NY Deli does not mean you actually serve NY Deli style food. I mean I can put on pads, gear and suit up; but the Bears (or given the location) Panthers are not going to put me on the field come Sunday.

My sandwich was low on pastrami and overloaded with slaw and dressing. Then it was served on a HUGE hoagie roll. I had the whole, which was about $8.

The sandwich which was noted as being served "hot"
