In the summer of 1963, with $50 and a dream, Dan Hall started Greater Tennessee Flooring. Dan had worked for clients all over east Tennessee installing floor covering in their homes and businesses. Our original location was located in an alley behind the old Zayres Department store on Baxter Avenue.
The condition of the building was lacking to say the least but with $50 you are limited to what you have to pick from. Dan liked the Baxter Avenue location because at the time it was in the center of Knoxville. Even today, after over 50 years, you can get to our location in about fifteen minutes coming from north, south, east or west Knoxville.
