Dance is not just about learning steps and counts, it is about developing and creating the tools to help our youth grow into healthy functional adults. In the dance studio, you will find a safe place to practice and develop the skills necessary to be a responsible active individual. Developing and honing in on skills to help prepare them for the world that they are soon to experience.
Most thought she was simply teaching kids the basics, when she was learning again herself. In 2008, she suffered a stroke that left her unable to speak and her right side paralyzed. After a risky brain surgery, she nurtured her recovery over two years with Pilates which enabled her to return to her first passion, dancing.
Dancers are to arrive 5-10 minutes early and wait quietly on the lani outside the studio door. Dancers must have all personal items such as dance shoes labeled with name on inside of shoes and placed in a dance bag. Students and parents must treat all faculty, administrators, staff, themselves, and fellow students with respect and honesty at all times.

Please check class schedule for an up to date list of classes offered for current session. If you have a specific request for a class that is currently not on our schedule, we would love to hear from you!
These private classes are an efficient and success worthy way to support a dancer in reaching their goals. Individual attention allows the student to grow in specific areas with the curriculum specially designed and tailor made towards the dancers needs and goals. Full disclosure: this is the first time I have taken my daughters to a ballet studio, so I don't have much to compare it to. I also only planned to have them dance through the summer, since it was their birthday wish to take ballet classes! But here are a few of my observations, starting from positive to areas of improvement:
1) The Director is very easy to get in touch with and is responsive. The ballet teacher was very sweet and great with children
2) Location and class times were convenient
3) I liked that there was a used ballet shoe/tap shoe collection so you don't have to buy

MDS quickly welcomed my daughter with a warm embrace. They have successfully created an environment of learning, creativity and expression for all ages and personalities. Their team of teachers and administration are exceptionally caring and courteous. I am so happy to have found this gem in the heart of Manoa and would highly recommend it to anyone considering including some rhythm and harmony into their little ones life!

My daughter joined MDS just after her 3rd birthday, and it has been a positive and joyful experience for us. The teachers are compassionate and understand how to teach young children. There is little pressure to perform, and lots of encouragement to learn, dance, and have fun. At home she loves practicing the new dance moves she learns (Chasse! … Paradiddle!) Not only does my daughter love her "ballet friends" from class, but my husband and I love the friendships we've made with the other parents and family members of my daughter's classmates. MDS even coordinated a holiday photo shoot with
