Sublimation is a process by which sublimation dyes are printed onto a transfer medium with a specially prepared inkjet printer. Those dyes are then transferred from the medium to an object or garment under the heat and pressure delivered by a commercial heat press. When the heat and pressure are applied, the dye on the transfer medium sublimates, or becomes a gas, and is then absorbed into the item itself, becoming a permanent part of it.
This is where it all began for KEPCO -- with engraved badges and nameplates! These days we use a rotary engraving system that can produce badges, nameplates, and small signage from 1"x1" to 16"x24". Rotary engraving is the term used to describe engraving done with a rotating cutting tool in a motorized spindle.
