Services
Our teachers make it a priority to get to know you on a personal level and to become familiar with your personal musical needs and goals. A seven year old having their first guitar lesson will have very different needs than a fifty seven year old taking up piano for the 2nd time after having had lessons as a child.
Since 2011, We have been on the forefront of online learning. We were the first performing arts academy in Connecticut to have this as an available option to our students. Thanks to our online learning, students are able to take music lessons with us no matter where they are. As technology has progressed, so have we!
New Haven Academy of Performing Arts' voice teachers primarily focus on popular music and specialize in MIX Technique. We are the only performing arts school in Connecticut Certified to teach Mix Technique by International Voice Teachers of Mix. If you have always wanted to be a better rock, pop, country, jazz, gospel, R&B or even Opera singer, then we have the right voice teachers for you.
Piano Lessons at New Haven Academy of Performing Arts are designed for students from 4 years old to adults. Young beginners (4-5) are evaluated for readiness. From the first piano class, we customize a personal program just for you. Our piano teachers teach a variety of styles from classical to popular music.
Ukulele is the EASIEST stringed instrument to learn and quickly becoming quite popular. Beginner students can expect to work on chords, popular songs and melodies. Our instructors utilize our MUSIC NOW program to get students playing right away. This is also perfect for vocal students who want to accompany themselves or to begin writing their own songs.

Nhaopa has changed my life even if I’ve only been there for a few years now. It has taught me how to become a better dancer, actress, and singer just in these past few years alone. The teachers genuinely care about every single student that goes here. The first year I had believed that I would hate it because I never had any experience with theater, only dance, yet the first day I went I felt welcomed by everyone immediately. Today was my consultation and I was extremely nervous and anxious. Neil, one of the owners, came outside to meet me and showed me around. I was immediately put at ease by his warm inviting personality and positive energy. My instructor Sergio was extremely patient with me and took his time walking me through the exercises. Billy, the other owner, was wonderful with the sign up process and all three gave me great hope that I can finally realize my dream of learning to sing. I am so SUPER excited 🤣🤣🤩🤩🤩

Our daughter joined the summer camp program 3 years ago, the experience was so amazing that she did not want to leave. We have watched her grow in confidence and talent each year while developing friendships that have supported and encouraged her every step of the way. Billy, Neil and the entire staff have embraced our daughter’s individuality since her first day. My Missy started at NHAOPA in late 2015 on a whim and never looked back. She's learned and grown so much all while having fun and building lasting, meaningful relationships. Through this pandemic, Billy, Neil and the teachers at NHAOPA have managed to navigate ever changing rules and regulations to keep the kids safe and allow them to do what they love. Billy goes out of his way to make sure you are happy. Soon as you walk through the door you are greeted. No one is treated differently. The love and caring atmosphere is given to everyone.

NHAOPA is such an awesome and loving place. They helped me to improve my acting and singing skills while still being able to have fun and make friends with likeminded people. This past summer was my first NHAOPA show and it truly was the best summer of my life and I never thought it would be. Absolutely love NHAPO, top notch all the way! My daughter has always enjoyed singing and has been in school chorus since kindergarten. On the advice of her chorus teacher we started looking for a place to take voice lessons. I came across NHAPO and the reviews were amazing and we gave it a try.
