Army Navy Tattoo was established in 1978 and we are a family oriented shop who specializes in nearly every style including traditional american, japanese, black and grey, bright color work, portraits, cover-ups, and custom art work. The absolute best tattoo experience I've had at a tattoo parlor in the state of Virginia.
Not only was the cleaniness of the shop immaculate, every single artist was knowledgeable, and the best at their craft. He is always willing to expand on your vision as to what you would like your tattoo to be and to make sure you are comfortable and pleased with his work.

Nate tattooed me. He was very kind, engaged in what I wanted and precise. Everyone that works here is fun and helpful. This wasn't my first tattoo but if anyone is anxious about the experience, Nate will make you feel comfortable, answer your questions and provide aftercare education. I will be coming back!

I absolutely loved this place. Recommend from a few friends and I'm so glad I listened! I was a walk in, so had to wait a while, but I received such great service from everyone and i loved my artist Nate. Impeccable detail and i am so glad i finally did it! I 100% recommend Army Navy.

My husband and I stopped by last night thinking we would need to make an appointment. We were able to get our tattoos same day. Talked to Justin and Dave, giving general ideas about what we wanted. They both took our ideas and turned them into amazing pieces that we are super proud to wear on our bodies. We will definitely be back and we will be recommending Army-Navy to all of our friends and family!

My lady and I went for his and hers tattoos, the staff was amazing, friendly, kind and respectful. Nate, Dave, Chris, Justin and the owner made this a wonderful experience. Army Navy tattoo is a landmark here in Hampton Roads. In order to have exceptional work, you must go here. My tattoo artist Sean is exceptional! He has a good eye and he can kill the graffiti and script. He’s done many of my tattoos, 2 being cover ups. I will not go anywhere else for my work. Hands down the best! The staff all the way around are exceptional people and artist. The owner is a sweetheart. All I can say is, go there and find out yourself!

My husband and I both walked in for small tattoos. We were welcomed and felt very comfortable talking to the owner & our artist, Justin. The inside of the building is free of clutter and well kept. The area for actual services was super clean and sterilized. Justin was very personable and obviously took pride in his work. He made sure we were both comfortable at all times and was excellent with explaining his process both before and during our procedures. We each got the tattoos we imagined and are so pleased with the work Justin created. Definitely will return to this location for future tattoos

Very happy & pleased! This is only part one of my tattoo done, have to go back for color. Done by Dave who of which is the nicest, coolest and most awesome guy! We bonded over old anime shows as he was prepping me and had a whole conversation for awhile. He would ask me how I'm doing and if I needed to take a break/adjust myself if I was uncomfortable. I love the atmosphere and boss lady (owner) is so cool and straight forward. They made me very comfortable there. As a walk in, it's worth the wait of getting a tattoo so I recommend going. BUT BE THERE BEFORE THEY OPEN SO YOU CAN BE FIRST COME FIRST

The owner Tita was super friendly and helpful from the beginning, she recommended Dave. Dave was AWESOME!! He really listened to what I wanted and made my tattoo dream come TRUE!! He is SUPER patient, and… honestly, this was the least painful one I’ve gotten!! He’s SO TALENTED!! The shop is CLEAN, comfortable and a laid back atmosphere.... Dave had a customer before me, and he was tedious in cleaning his supplies and work area.... it was just an all around, comfortable, pleasant experience!! I am going to recommend Army-Navy to all of my tat loving friends for sure!!! 5 stars

I had the absolute worst tattoo experience here. Last tuesday, two of my friends and I came here to get three small identical tattoos of three wave lines, each. I paid $100 for a three SMALL wave lines (each of us had one of the lines bolder than the rest), even though the shop minimum is $50, and the "artist" sat in the amateur chair. The owner charged us and asked us to tip the guy BEFORE he even sat us. My friend who went first said the dude's hands were shaking before he even picked up the gun. My wife and I got tattoos done there yesterday and we are beyond satisfied with how they turned out. The shop is clean, staff is friendly, they have a comfy waiting room, and the prices are reasonable. Don't let the apprentice title for one of their artists George Rankin turn you off because he is truly gifted, he's the one that is doing mine.

Rude customer service, although I called about an appointment WHICH THEY REFUSED to do... They are walk in only she told me last walk in is at 915PM so they could close by 10. Get there around 9pm and the guy didn't want anything to do with a tattoo or a customer just closing!!! WILL NOT RETURN or recommend!!!

I originally was not going to write a review about my experience, but the more time that goes by I get very upset and angry with my results of my tattoo. I got tattooed by "Spider" about a year ago and the linework is horrendous, there are places all throughout my tattoo that looks like a three year old could do it, there were words already bleeding the second I got finished with my tattoo, and there are some branches of my tree that are obviously a whole lot darker than the other ones. I got a little bad vibe as soon as a met the guy, and it is partly my fault for not backing out immediately

Both me and my sister worked with Spider. He was amazing! She walked in with a little idea of what she wanted and ended up getting stacked puzzle pieces spelling out HOPE for Autism. He talked the whole time to make you comfortable and constantly asked if she needed a break. I wasn't planning on getting a tattoo but after my sister's visit I came in a few days later and got a butterfly with the PTSD ribbon as the middle on my shoulder blade. Once again he was very detailed and gentle. I will definitely be going back to him my next visit to Virginia!!

Its a small outdated joint with some good artisit that really don't recieve the good credit that they deserve being at this shop. The parking lot is small but its hardly ever full, I've had two tats here and they have both been walk-ins.
The inside reeks of smoke and the seating areas are gross looking. Most of the furishings look like hand-me-downs with holes and stains. The prices are fair for the most part. If you do opt for a walk-in be prepared to wait...the first time I went the lady said she was
