Acadiana Medical Psychological Services, LLC (AMPS) is a multi-disciplinary practice consisting of Medical Psychologists, Psychologists, Licensed Clinical Social Workers, Licensed Professional Counselors, and Psychometricians with the mission of providing a full range of mental health services so that our patients overcome emotional and behavioral challenges and start living their lives again.

Our team, collectively, has more than 100 years of training and experience, and has worked with a diverse array of clients. With locations in Lafayette and Eunice, Louisiana, we provide comprehensive services to evaluate and treat mental health and psychosocial difficulties.
Services
Dr. Scott Eckholdt has been in private practice for more than 14 years. His diverse training at Central State Hospital, Pinecrest Developmental Center, and a Federal Detention Center provide him with a unique insight into a broad spectrum of mental illnesses and disorders. Dr. Eckholdt specializes in the psychological assessment, brief therapy, and medication management of persons 16 years and older.
In some cases, patients may require the use of psychotropic medications to help them overcome their challenges. At Acadiana Medical Psychological Services (AMPS), Drs. Eckholdt and Cavanaugh are Medical Psychologists who have had advanced training in clinical psychopharmacology, allowing them to prescribe medications, if needed, so that patients can obtain optimal outcomes restoring their wellbeing and ability.
Dr. Amy Cavanaugh is a licensed clinical and medical psychologist serving the Acadiana area since 2005. Dr. Cavanaugh provides psychological assessment, psychotherapy, and medication management services to individuals and families, including children, adolescents, and adults.

She utilizes medication, play therapy, cognitive-behavioral, and interpersonal therapy techniques to treat a wide variety of difficulties, including but not limited to: ADHD, behavior problems; trauma; parenting; attachment disorders; depression and mood disorders; anxiety; and adjustment to life stressors such as divorce and bereavement.
Dr. Cedrina Averette has a passion for helping her clients cultivate and develop as they struggle through the difficult experiences life may bring. She provides individual and group therapy for older adolescents and adults with social, emotional and behavioral difficulties. Her clinical interests include depression, anxiety/stress, grief/loss, trauma, identity development, relationship issues, and general adjustment concerns.
Dr. John Tracy is a licensed psychologist having experience in providing psychotherapy and assessment services to children, adolescents, and adults. Dr. Tracy has training in residential and outpatient substance abuse treatment and individual and group Cognitive Behavioral Therapy for anxiety and depression.

Went on January 12 for evaluation test for a Spinal Cord Stimulator trial. February 10 and still no results to my neurosurgeon!!!!! Entirely to long. Bad business, sorry!!!

Dr. Cavanaugh is amazing. Willing to help my son and me cope with and get a handle on his behavior and adhd issues so that he can be successful socially and academically. We are no longer in this situation alone!
