Our welding shop opened in 1976 under the name of Ace Iron Works and for many years we specialized in manufacturing burglar bars, gates and various types of ornamental iron products. As the burglar bar market weakened in the mid 80's, many of our customers expressed an interest in securing their homes with attractive driveway gates.
So, in 1989, we changed our name to the Automatic Gate Company. We have continued over the years as a small family owned company specializing in meticulous workmanship, attention to detail and one on one service to each of our customers. Services
Since 1976, we have been Houston's premier residential automatic gate manufacturer and service provider. We manufacture and install custom residential automatic gates. We install new gate openers on existing iron gates. We repair gates that are leaning over or gates that are dragging on the driveway.
Our high tech gate building shop offers three custom gate styles for your home. All of our automatic gates are furnished with advanced automatic reversing systems to provide additional safety for your children and pets. The Avalon is our most popular gate style. The slightly heavier Avalon Style with the 4 bar spacing is well suited for small children and animals. If you have a smaller than average dog take a look at our Barcelona style with the bars doubled on the bottom. Picket size 3/4", picket spacing 4", frame built with 4 rails - two top and two bottom, standard frame size is 1 1/4".
The Economy gate has our 4 spacing between the bars. It is similar to our Avalon style, but has three cross runners rather than four. This gate can be built with a picket point top, or smooth rail top, Since the three cross rails are not as much support as four we only offer this gate up to 13' feet wide unless we do diagonal bracing.
Our gate opener systems, along with over half of the opener market today, are powered by a battery system. This setup works well for areas getting over 5 hours of sunlight each day and is included in the price. This setup is recommended for partially blocked applications where you might have 2 to 5 hours of sunlight each day.

Jack was WONDERFUL to work with! He was very professional, provided high quality work, and also very informative. He wanted to ensure I understood all my options and exactly what he was doing. He answered all of my questions (and I had quite a few) and taught me tricks to try to save some money where I could. He went above and beyond just a normal gate repair, and he was cheaper than the other gate companies I called for a quote. I would recommend working with him ANY time you need something done to your gate. thank you, Jack!

Jack was extremely helpful. He provided guidance and gave references on how to begin installation of a security gate for our community. What’s so amazing about this is that Jack only does residential nothing commercial yet took his time to walk me through steps and recommendations on who to call. He’s was a great help and would highly recommend him especially based on his customer service!

Jack is an incredibly friendly and knowledgeable professional. He fully explained his products and prices over the phone with me one evening. After sending him photos of our gate and operator, he advised me that his products wouldn't work for our needs. Instead of telling me goodbye, he gave me the technical information of my gates and what I should look for when getting quotes!He even told me that he would be happy to discuss any quotes I get! Wow, what an honest and nice guy! I wish I could have used him for our gates!!!

Jack was great to work with. He was generous with his time and gave me great advice as I was getting my gate built. When it came time to do the automatic opener install, he delivered exactly what he promised for a reasonable price with no surprises. I wouldn't do another job like this without getting his advice, and I recommend watching his video!

The owner Jack is very experienced and passionate about his products. I hired him to fix up my 10 years old gate which had been left unused after the first year because the original installer had bad services. Now I am very happy with the new motor and Jack's practical fixes to make poles stronger is awesome. I am confident to use the gate everyday because Jack has a solid warranty to back his work.

Jack, and the rest of the team at AGC, exceeded my expectations on a recent gate install at my home. I was so comfortable with the time taken by Jack to thoroughly explain the options to me during our "driveway meeting" that I opted to have the gate installed while we were away for Christmas. ...and I couldn't be happier with the final product. Absolutely no surprise disappointments and the gate looks and functions great. What a great gift to come home to!
