Be sure to say hello to our four-legged friends - Tonka, the cat, hangs out with the ever-growing herd of Russian Tortoises (30 last count) near the raised-bed garden. Lastly, stop by the rabbit hutch tucked in the shade of the pomegranate tree where Guinevere and Avalon (2005-2015 RIP), the mini rex rabbits, reside comfortably hidden under the foliar canopy late spring through fall.

Converting a run-down cactus farm to a productive nursery was a labor of love, sweat, and dog-eared hard work; hence the oft repeated saying, "We've done so much with so little, we think we can do anything with nothing."
Today, Pearson's Gardens & Herb Farm offers the largest selection of herbs & spices in the state of California, an ever-increasing selection of gourmet and unusual fruits & vegetables from around the world, and an impressive collection of water-wise, "California Friendly" blooming plants.Producing nearly 2,500 unique varieties of utilitarian and edible plants has been a growing experience from the start.

Pearson's Gardens is tucked away off the beaten path on a little road in a rural-residential area of San Diego's "North County." Watch for the large drive with an open gravel area for parking just outside the gateway that leads to another world. Mama Bear will greet you at the entrance! Telephone the nursery at 760-726-0717 for current daily information during periods of rain or extreme weather.
Saffron, the world's most expensive spice that is more costly than gold is making it's seasonal debut! Don't miss out on this window of opportunity to view and partake in this annual inflorescence and your own harvesting of the prized saffron threads. The thin red filaments of stigmata are highly valued among gourmets, healers, as well as practitioners of the magical arts.
Yes; we most certainly are! No. Though we offer a fantastic selection of plants onsite at the nursery, we do not sell them online. However, many of our customers travel significant distances, and they all say, "It's worth the trip!" Pearson's Gardens uses organic materials, pest control, and practices; however, due to the overly burdensome red tape and corruption we are not Certified Organic.

Was looking for some vegetables to grow here but their selection was pretty limited when I came here. Not much staff here, felt we were alone here just looking around. It felt like driving to someone's house and walking into their large backyard. Not your typical nursery, too bad they didn't have much to offer, drove far to check it out based on the reviews.

This local plant nursery is almost like a hidden gem. You will easily miss it if you're not paying attention. It's scenic with so many plant varieties to start your own ornamental or herb garden. The owner was very knowledgeable and gave helpful gardening advice. The place was very welcoming. The plants are also healthy and lush. Highly recommended!

I have been looking for a place to get all my fruits and veggies. This place is small but cute. They are only open Friday-Sunday but it's worth the trip. It's a great place to take kids to teach them about how food grows and they could even pick out their own favorite veggie to grow. I will have to make another trip back since in a week or so they will have more fall crops to buy. I love how everything there looks healthy since other places the crops tend to look dead looking or if they look healthy they end up dying. Looking forward to my fall season of food to grow.

Nothing like a pandemic to make one finally do all of the things. In my case, that means planting a garden that will help feed my family - and maybe eventually the neighborhood. I looked online all through O'side, Del Mar, Carlsbad, etc., and there are plenty of places that sell veggies. Pearson's online presence, though, felt conscientious, unassuming, quietly solid.
So I went. And they are.
Organic plants, soil care and bugstuffs. Gently attentive, knowledgeable, helpful staff. Loads of advice (definitely solicited) for the newbie. Fantastic, hearty selection of really interesting

The place is hard to get to, but excellent.
They have every herb plant that you will want/need. ( Organic)
I bought a blue African basil plant here.
A little pricey for 1 gallon plant, but I love it.( You get what you pay)
The people that work here are extremely friendly, helpful and know their plants and trees.
They also carry some fruit trees.
A must visit if you are looking for common herb plants.

This is a small well maintained professional nursery in a residential area. They have so many wonderful rare medicinal herb plants. The lady working was super nice and helpful. My kid liked the bunny and butterfly chrysalis'. Prices are high for the larger plants, because it was borne and grown organically. There are veggie and herb starters for $4, though. They specialize in butterfly attracting plants and medicinal herbs.

This place is a gardeners paradise with knowledge coming at you from all directions. My novice 1 year self in the garden game wasn't ready from such a motivating and unique experience. I plan to visit this place at least 1 a month. I love this place and only have been here for 2 hrs when I decided to write this post. My life and world just changed significantly and I thank the heavens for this family local farm. Such great teachers and knowledgeable superior staff.

A dream come true for creating or adding to your kitchen garden! They had the herbs that I couldn't find elsewhere and I discovered new ones that I had never heard of but fell in love with. For my first haul (there will be more!), I brought home pineapple sage, Italian large leaf parsley, valerian, apple mint, marjoram, spanish tarragon, and lemon balm. Their selection of strawberries is fantastic too. We brought home some pineapple alpine strawberries that lit my kids up with delight. They have the hard to find tree collards (both green and purple). We're setting up more raised beds

Cold weather, drizzle, boredom, winter doldrums. I won't let that keep me down. My solution? A hop in the car to search for yet more, undiscovered magic that our So Cal has to offer. Yelp taught me there is so much more to discover in my own backyard than just Disneyland, Big Bear, and Venice Beach.
We are the kind of people who love to cook, love to eat not-so-ordinary stuff, and hate cleaning up afterwards. But never you mind. That never stops us from experiencing kitchen inspiration, when it hits.
One of my favorite tv chefs, that cutie patootie Jamie Oliver, is my inspiration

I am in love with this place! Who doesn't like rows and rows of homegrown possibilities. Plus you can hear their chicken's and rosters in the distance. Don't be deterred by it's house like appearance. I almost drove away the first time since Pearson's is located in the middle of a neighborhood (pretty much in someone's backyard).
I drive all the way from downtown to get my fill of fruits and veggies for my raised bed. I have never seen so many varieties. I mean how many times can you say you have seen Pineapple Mint?
