Selection of a health care provider is a personal choice. Most or all of the health care providers performing services in this Hospital are independent contractors who have privileges to practice at the Hospital but they are not Hospital employees, representatives or agents. This includes but is not limited to radiologists, pathologists, emergency physicians, anesthesiologists, hospitalists, surgeons and others.
The Acute Rehab Unit (ARU) at Ottumwa Regional Health Center is the only ARU within in a 75 mile radius of Ottumwa. It is an inpatient rehabilitation unit, and unlike a Skilled Nursing Facility (SNF) does not require a prior 3 day acute stay for admission. Our Acute Rehabilitation Unit was surveyed by Commission on Accreditation of Rehabilitation Facilities (CARF) and once again received an unconditional accreditation for a three year period.

If I could give 0 stars I would. I’ve never felt so violated at a hospital ER, I’ve never felt so mistreated and unimportant. I was told I was on my feet so they weren’t worried and when I said I wanted to go to Iowa city instead, they talked nothing but bad on them. When almost all of their serious calls are lifeflighted there. Not worth it at all. Super upset with the level of care I received. The only people that cared was the phlebotomist and the nurse that checked me in.

I had carpal tunnel surgery at ORHC a several months ago. From the moment I walked in the door of the hospital, I felt confident in my decision to have my procedure there. Checking in was easy, the nurses in One Day Surgery was awesome, the operating room staff was very helpful and thoughtful, and the recovery room nurses made sure I was comfortable. Dr. Nicholson was fantastic. I am so thankful that we have this regional hospital right in my hometown. Thanks to all the staff that took great care of me and kept my family informed even during a pandemic.

Great customer service from door to door. I've been going to outpatient therapy for the last few months and not only has my therapist, Glen, changed my life and been my complete support system, but each and every staffer I interact with at the hospital has been an absolute gem. I highly recommend getting treatment at this hospital. If you need physical therapy - ask for Glen!!

In the last 5 years I have had a knee replacement, two carpal tunnel surgeries (each hand), throat stretched, and a Colonoscopy. Excellent care from the time that I checked in. One Day surgery made me feel at ease at all times. Knowledgeable, caring, and great at putting the IV in. Great experience in the room right before surgery. Surgeries have all been successful. I’ve always recommended Ottumwa Regional to family and friends for over 50 years. Keep up the Great Experience to your patients.

My husband had an angiogram at the Ottumwa Regional Health Center .His doctor was wonderful and he explained everything to him before he went to surgery and then after he came back he explained everything to him what he had found and what he did to him. All the staff there was very good to him from the time he walked in the door until he left. They treated him like he was a somebody and that they really cared about him. We would highly recommend them to anybody.

I have had two visits to ORHC in the past year. Dr Ortell performed a colonoscopy which went very smoothly. I visited the ER in April, 2021, and had very little wait time. They took an x-ray of my shoulder, diagnosed that it was broken and didn’t require surgery, put a sling on it and sent me home with care directions. The nurses, x-ray technician, and doctors were wonderful both times and their care was excellent. I feel very fortunate that we have access to our regional hospital right here in Ottumwa.

I didn't even want to give it 1 star. The prenatal care was ridiculous. Seen 6 different doctors so it did not feel personal at all. The appointments were in and out. Went in for contractions, was sent home because I didn't dialate within an hr even though my contractions were regular and intensifying. It was clear I was in active labor but still sent home. Had my baby an hour later on my bedroom floor. After care was just as bad. Would never recommend them.

I was seen within 20 minutes of arriving to the admitting desk. I came in with a laceration to my hand that needed sutures. The nurse was very friendly and offered me a drink right away. The bombshell Nurse Practitioner (Cathy) came in with a student np to see me within 10 minutes. She asked permission for the student to put in my sutures. I consented. She skillfully coached/observed the student who did an amazing job as well. I can't say enough great things about my provider and her positive bedside rapport. Her infectious smile and laugh we're much appreciated to help ease any anxiety I had about
