The Lincoln Trail District Health Department serves the residents and visitors of a six-county area including Hardin, LaRue, Marion, Meade, Nelson and Washington counties. It is our mission is to assure the public's health and safety through prevention, promotion, and protection. In everything we do, our vision is to improve health and safety in our district.

With a central office in Elizabethtown, Lincoln Trail District Health Department operates six health centers throughout the district. A number of clinical services and programs are provided through those centers. Additionally, environmentalists work from these centers, providing all the inspections and permit services necessary to ensure public health.

Services
Immunizations work with your child's body to prevent many serious diseases. They make your child's immune system stronger. It is important that your child receives vaccines on time because they provide protection before they are exposed to dangerous diseases. The Health Department provides immunizations to eligible clients through our county health centers and works throughout the community to promote the importance of vaccines.
What is it? A set of practical strategies and ideas aimed at reducing negative consequences associated with drug use. What is a Harm Reduction Syringe Service Program (HRSSP)? HRSSPs are community-based programs that provide access to sterile needles and syringes, safe disposal of used syringes, and other comprehensive harm reduction services.
At any given moment, community leaders, local and state governments are discussing or implementing all kinds of policy initiatives. Many of these offer opportunities to promote health and equality in transportation, employment, education, and other areas that impact where we live, work or play. The opinion and voice of the general public is a powerful tool in building grassroot efforts that influence all areas of policy.
First Steps is an early intervention program and serves children from birth to age three who have a developmental delay or a medical condition known to cause a delay. New Vista provides services for children who live in our 17-county service area. Staff provide screening and determine eligibility for services as well as coordinate services for families.
