I love the airport because it's always a smooth navigation through the concourses, and gates. The floor and plan are friendly for long walks. Always a good exercise when not in a hurry to connect. You also have the Express Tram to your rescue when in a hurry. Then lots of shops, Lounges for luxury travelers.

This is by far our favorite airport, the color tunnel is the best! The food is outstanding at many of the restaurants and there is even a great massage place. I love the staff at the Body Shop and many of the other great little shops. The Delta employees go out of their way to be kind, courteous and caring. I am so glad I get to travel through this airport on a regular basis. I don't have any airport pictures, but here is a classic shot of Michigan.

I had to transfer from Concourse B to Concourse A and it took me around 10 minutes to do that. Make sure you have sufficient time in hand for your transfer between your previous flight and your next one, in case you are transferring.
If you are traveling via Delta Airlines, they have a monorail which runs between Gates A15 and A78. It can make your commute between gates even faster!

This is a big, nice airport that I’ve flown into on several occasions. It is fine if Detroit is your destination. However, this would not be my 1st, 2nd or 3rd choice for a layover. The planes usually taxi on the runway for extended periods upon landing. I once stayed on the runway for 45 minutes and missed my flight. Also, you’ll likely have a long walk if your connecting flight is in a different terminal. Just make sure that you have enough time in between flights. There are plenty of eating and shopping choices that will keep you occupied. BTW, the lighted tunnel is awesome!

You must do some assessing of the distance from your exit gate to connecting flight gate. Then you may choose to ride a monorail that’s much faster to transport you with a luggage which runs every 4 minutes either direction.
Even though looking at the map of the linear design of McNamara terminal (simpler). One can’t easily assess the actual distance on foot unless you’re a frequent traveler using this particular airport.

Detroit was a connection airport for me so I didn't check in or out. And therefore didn't see most of the airport... But I did go through the connection tunnel. And it was great! I nice bit of peace, and relaxing! To bad I can't add the video I took... but suffice it to say, they had relaxing music with an accompanying changing lights.
