The Willcox Livestock Auction was started 65 years ago and is now the oldest running auction in Arizona. In 1996 it was sold to the current owners: Sonny Shores, Ken Martella and Scott McDaniels. Sonny's own father had owned the auction for many years before, so Sonny has been in the business since his childhood.
Since the purchase with Sonny and his two partners in 1996, many improvements have been made to the building itself plus an additional 5 acres of corrals which now boast a holding capacity of 4500 head. The auction not only has a complete computer system inside but also has an on line service through DV Auction for the convenience of both sellers and buyers.

3. The New Mexico livestock owner will be responsible to contact the Arizona Department of Agriculture State Veterinarian's office (602-542-4293) for the Arizona Entry Permit number prior to bringing cattle to auction. That number will be placed on the inspection certificate. 4. The foregoing applies only to cattle from non- quarantined areas and that have a destination of an Arizona Livestock Auction.
Time tested and true, local auction markets are still the most reliable, secure way for you to sell livestock. Livestock auction markets protect you by acting as the agent to transfer ownership from the seller to the buyer. They assume the risk of non-payment for a small cost.
There were 731 unfortunate livestock producers and several auction markets left unpaid for livestock following the default and bankruptcy of livestock broker Eastern Livestock Company. At those markets that were left holding bad checks - 100% of livestock producers were paid in full. Commission looks pretty cheap when you can trust that you'll be paid in full, paid on time and receive a fair, competitive price.
