Hammer & Nail has a proud family history dating back many decades. The story begins with Bart's grandfather, Louis, who had a lifelong love of woodworking and pursued his hobby fervently. Working from a shop he built behind his house, Lou turned out expertly crafted cabinets, window seats, built-ins and more for his entire family.
His crowning achievement was a hand built Harpsichord for one of Bart's cousins. Lou's son Robert, Bart's father, started the Hammer & Nail in Pearl River in 1975, turning his father's hobby into a profitable business. Five years later, Bob opened the Wyckoff showroom. In 1985, Bart, formerly a stage carpenter for The Metropolitan Opera, joined his father, and helped establish The Hammer & Nail as a resource for high design.

Services
When the elements of form, feeling and function are perfectly balanced, something magical happens. The whole becomes far greater than the sum of its parts. Raw elements of wood and stone, metal and glass are transformed into a refined space that speaks to people. Living in such an environment makes us feel good.
The first step in any successful project, is to listen. I listen carefully to my clients, taking in every wish, every need, every nuance. When I have totally absorbed those needs and those feelings, my job is to artfully balance them with the constraints of the physical space. That's when everything falls easily into place.
My experience with Hammer & Nail was truly wonderful. I enjoyed working with them so much that when my new kitchen was fully complete, and the contractors were gone, I actually wished it hadn't been finished so I would have a reason to continue to call the Hammer & Nail! The Hammer & Nail is a company that is professional in all aspects.
