Services
Brett: I'm an active member of the Tacoma community. Last year I worked as a middle school science teacher. This year I'm devoting myself entirely to DJing and using my varied background to launch several new startups. I finished my Ph. D. in Biology at the University of Montana in spring 2017. I studied the aerodynamics and biomechanics of bird flight.
We strongly feel that being available to talk and maintaining a clear line of communication will make your wedding or party a relaxing, seamless event. We are available by phone or email every day all of the time. Many businesses provide a service based on a "perceived" value. We charge a flat rate for our services which reflects the cost of our time, equipment, and experience.
Here are a few answers to our most frequently asked questions. Of course, you can always just give us a call at 253-271-4741 and we'd be happy to talk over your event and answer any specific questions you've got. In any case, rest assured that 1) we are going to our absolute best, 2) we here for you, and 3) you got this!
From the processional music to the last dance, we provide exceptional start-to-finish planning, coordination, and entertainment. Before the ceremony, we meet with your bridal party and officiant to ensure perfection. We provide a complete sound system at the ceremony that can accommodate several microphones and musical instruments.
Your school dance doesn't have to be awkward. We transform your evening into an unforgettable dance party. We provide lights, glow sticks, bubbles, and an incredible musical performance so your fellow students can have the time of their lives. We work with ASB leadership and advisors to plan an amazing, safe, and fun event.

All I can say is wow! Brett and Paige were a dream to work with. They are incredibly professional and know exactly how to throw a great reception. Not only did they play great music all night (and the bubble machine was a great touch), but they also assisted in timing/planning and problem solving when we ran into issues (not music related) day of the wedding. Overall, I was more than happy with their services. They were absolutely essential to our reception running smoothly. They were amazing and I would recommend them to anyone!

Grit City DJs made our wedding day! From start to finish, they brought the personal service and professionalism, that made our wedding a success. Brett and Paige provided equipment for two locations, the ceremony and reception location, provided a handheld mic for our officiant, and all of our musical requests were met! The highlight of the evening was when Brett and Paige joined us on the dance floor to play air guitar with my brother. You won't find better DJs in the Seattle/Tacoma area!

I was incredibly fortunate to have Grit City DJs for my wedding this May. One thing no one told me leading up to the wedding was how much a great support staff make the day so much more special (and can take a huge burden off of your plate!)

Brett and Paige were absolutely phenomenal. We used them as our DJs for our squadron's annual holiday party, and they stood alone as higher-quality professionals from first contact until the closing song.
I reached out to over 15 DJs in the local area, and was very disheartened by the overwhelmingly unprofessional responses I received from the vast majority of the local DJs. Grit City Dj's is AMAZING to work with! As a photographer they were beyond accommodating and helpful. Ahead of reception we touched base and got on the same page about the timeline of the reception so they could make sure to get any key moments done before I would be leaving for the night. They reminded the guests to use the photobooth, stoked up the dance party when it was needed and generally kept the ambience fun and energetic. I have already sent them a referral and will definitely send more. If you're looking to hire a DJ as a couple getting married, I would highly suggest them from another

We hired Brett for our wedding and we would have to say, he does it all!
In addition to the music being awesome, Brett continually asked if there was anything he could do to help. Our wedding was not organized well and through the chaos he helped in any way he could. Even when we decided to throw out the typical wedding agenda, he was able to go with the flow and make the new agenda work. Brett with Zootown DJ was hands down the best! From the beginning he was so easy to work with. He did an awesome job, not just with the music but keeping things on schedule (prompting dinner, cake cutting, first dances, etc.) He stayed later than planned because none of us wanted to stop dancing! AND when the bustle of my dress ripped out, he saved the day with binder clips to keep it from dragging. I was recently at a good friend's wedding and he saved her dress in the same way. Brett knows how to make your wedding a true night to remember! People will be talking about it for years :)

Trying to arrange our wedding from out of town, we thought it'd be difficult but Brett made the whole process very easy! We're so glad we found him to dj out wedding. We feel like we got a bonus wedding planner, photographer and all-round helpful guy thrown in for free!
We met up with Brett a month or so before the wedding and he gave us some really valuable advice and helped us come up with perfect songs for the whole event. He was really flexible and when we asked him to include some Scottish music and traditional dances into the night, he was great!! He also explained all of the American traditions

Zootown DJ did an amazing job at our wedding! The sound and music were great for both our ceremony and reception dinner, and then the party really got started. Brett kept the party going until late into the night/early morning, which was exactly what we had wanted! Beyond the music, Brett was a huge help throughout the planning process and the wedding weekend. He had professional advice about the flow of the day, the general set up at the venue, and how to keep people dancing. Brett from Zootown DJ was fantastic! He played a variety of important roles throughout our wedding and reception. He helped the Maid of Honor fix a broken hook on my dress just minutes before I walked down the aisle. He acted as a great Master of Ceremony during the reception and kept my husband and me on track. Brett would give us a 5-minute warning before it was time to cut the cake, make toasts, and dance our first dance. He also took some amazing pictures throughout the evening.
