Jimmy, the owner, is one of the BEST possible humans you will ever meet. His true spirit of Aloha is deeply embedded within in. That coupled with extensive recovery knowledge makes him an amazing leader. Having Jimmy lead the way, along with the rest of the staff guarantees a premier experience. I'm sure not if any of the negative reviews were from the previous owner, or simply unrealistic expectations of being in treatment in general, but I can guarantee you will not find a better treatment program who is genuine, caring, and healthy with regard to their own life balance and ability to teach it

Highly recommend Hawaii Island Recovery to anybody who is looking for a quality recovery center for themselves or for someone they care and are supporting. In the darkest of times when you are lost and don't know what to do, we blindly called HIR and Kevin Deeds, Admissions Director, picked up the phone on a Saturday afternoon. He spoke with my wife and I for over an hour. Kevin informed us that our insurance didn't work with Hawaii Island Recovery early in the conversation, yet even after that he continued to talk to us about other options in Hawaii and on Oahu and facilities and treatment options

I have immense gratitude for Hawaii Island Recovery and Jimmy Kayihura. I've had both a son and an aunt get treatment at Hawaii Island Recover and I can't imagine a better place for a loved one who needs care for their addiction. I’m a graduate of the HIR program class of 2014. I’ve been clean and sober ever since. The property, staff, clinical team and recovery community in Kona are all world class. If you or anyone you know is struggling with alcoholism or substance abuse issues HIR is safe choice for you or your loved ones. The family counseling I was a part of with Tom Jameson was the best I have ever experienced. I will carry his insight with me all of my days.
I appreciate the professionalism of the staff at HIR. They were helpful and quick to communicate under all circumstances.
Jimmy was patient and thorough upon intake in explaining everything - a second time (to my husband who was concerned about insurance coverage for my son’s recovery). Jimmy also handled my son’s “unexpected situations” at the home well and treated my son with respect while teaching him important life skills.
