Carolina Custom Cabinets was founded in Kitty Hawk in 1988 as a full service cabinet and countertop manufacturer for the Outer Banks area. Rex and Arlene Filion purchased the business in early '05 and moved it to their new facility in Powells Point. We design, engineer and manufacture our cabinets to specifically meet the demanding requirements of the OBX vacation rental home market.

Carolina Custom Cabinets is a full service custom cabinet and countertop manufacturer for the Outer Banks area. We are a true custom manufacturer, producing a commercial grade product and selling direct to the public at very competitive prices.
The Outer Banks is predominately a Rental Home Market where people tend to abuse rental homes like they abuse rental cars! Knowing that, we design, engineer and manufacture all our cabinets to commercial quality standards. We use 3/4" material for all cabinet construction, compared to 1/2" or even 1/4" material used in most "Factory" cabinets.
Every installer can tell you stories of "Factory" cabinets coming apart during installation, since most are merely glued & stapled together. Not our cabinets, as we are one of the few remaining companies that still use commercial casework construction for maximum durability.
This is especially important when installing in a room with walls that are out of square, as many homes are, where the installer must really torque the cabinets in place to make them fit properly.Another reason we go to such extremes is because in a large rental home the cabinets must hold enough dishes, silverware & glasses for 20 - 40 people, which is 4 times the weight that "Factory" cabinets are built to hold.

Rather than limiting your design to the standard 3" width increments of "Factory" cabinets, we build them any size. That means any width, height or depth. For our customers that means a more functional design with far less filler. It also means less hassle on the job when a door, soffit or window is framed slightly off spec (which frequently happens), and now a standard cabinet size won't fit.
We manufacture all our cabinet boxes to ensure they meet our strict durability standards, and then partner with two innovative door suppliers to ensure you have a tremendous selection of door styles to choose from. Decorative Specialties has been a leading cabinet door supplier for over 40 years, and their local plant in Monroe NC provides us with over 250 solid wood door styles to choose from in virtually any wood species.
