The Michigan Recycling Coalition (MRC) represents recycling and composting interests statewide. The Coalition is a recognized authority on waste reduction, beneficial utilization, recycling, and composting through the experience of its staff and committees. The MRC was started almost 40 years ago by a group of passionate individuals who shared a vision to advance resource conservation issues in our great state.
If you want to be more involved in the work of the MRC, joining a committee is a great place to start. The MRC Policy Committee explores legislative and state government initiatives that impact the industry. Michigan Recycling Coalition is developing a program in partnership with the Department of Environment, Great Lakes, and Energy to recycle high and low density polyethylene film plastics from Michigan's farms, greenhouses, and marinas.
Shrink film is used most commonly to insulate and protect boats for winter storage and for a variety of agricultural uses including greenhouse and hoop house covers, mulch film, drip tape, bale covers, and silage bags.Michigan is a unique location for the production of these plastic films. As a Great Lakes state, we have one of the most prosperous boating industries, with hundreds of marinas along Lake Michigan and Lake Huron.

Product Stewardship is the act of minimizing health, safety, environmental, and social impacts, and maximizing economic benefits of a product and its packaging throughout all life cycle stages. The producer of the product has the greatest ability to minimize adverse impacts, but other stakeholders, such as suppliers, retailers, and consumers, also play a role.
