The best way to protect your vision is a yearly comprehensive eye exam. When you arrive at our office, you will be greeted with friendly faces. Each eye exam will use the latest state-of-the-art technology to assess your eye health. The doctor will inspect your eyes, answer questions, and discuss your eye care treatment options.
Unlike a vision screening or other general eye test, comprehensive eye exams evaluate the entire health of the eye. They also help the optometrist or ophthalmologist determine your unique prescription. Comprehensive eye exams should begin as an infant to ensure proper eye and vision development. Ongoing eye health examinations at regular intervals are also important as many eye diseases and vision changes can occur without warning signs.
Eyes are the organs of vision. Through a complex process, they detect and focus light to create images. Vision begins when light rays are reflected off of an object and enters the eye through the cornea and then pupil. It then passes through the crystalline lens which refracts light to be focused on the retina.
Eye health is an important part of overall health. It's crucial to childhood development and independent aging for adults. Most people depend on clear vision. It helps them participate in their occupation, hobbies, and even to perform most everyday tasks. We brought our 7 year old daughter her for her first pair of glasses. She is quiet, sweet, and extremely shy and anxious. The entire staff made us feel uncomfortable and unwelcome. We tried to be as friendly as possible, smiling and being upbeat for our kiddo. But there was not one smile from the staff. Just flat, short, snippy communication. The doctor was very cold and unpleasant. My daughter asked to find a new eye doctor as soon as we got to the car.

The doctor is very knowledgeable and really good at meeting patients where they're at. He's patient, listens to your needs, and thoroughly explains everything. I think they're really reasonably priced, too, especially if you're looking to get contacts. A lot of practices will push you to get daily contacts since they're more profitable and they don't do that at all. The receptionists are a bit rude and flustered, but overall the customer service is good. They're great at getting you in and out of there fast.

I have recently been here along with my 3 kids. It is a small shop but we were all treated kindly by the entire staff and the doctor explained everything thoroughly for each of our issues. We got our glasses in a timley manner and i cant believe how much better i can see! Very pleased with our experience. :)

Would give 0 stars if available. After bad experience three years ago decided to give another chance. Office staff are nicer. Dr. still doesn’t seem interested in listening and was rude from the get go. After being lectured from 18” away for ten minutes I just left. I think he’s clueless.
And that little plastic face shield is ridiculous. Get a real mask please.

I probably hold the award the the longest worn contacts & repeated infectious because I wear them too long!
Contacts r expensive 💁🏽♀️ Max has always been my eye doctor since middle school, I am 39 now. He knows my habits & anticipates them, making sure I take care of my eyes. I always run out of contacts, and often need a trial pair. He gives me one pair & the girls make me a appointment.
Once I needed eye drops for the same “said repeated eye infection” & the girls spoke with him on vacation!! & the script was called in right away.

Great place. I have been going here for over 15 years with no issues, great quality of care. My kids also go here and they are great, even caught some issues early that are not as common. They ask kids questions that help them figure out what may or may not be going on. I never have felt rushed at my appointments or looked down upon.
I see a lot of negative reviews that make me wonder how truthful people are at their appointments or if they don’t answer questions honestly, which then causes issues with scripts, etc. They can only treat you correctly if you are honest. Just like all doctors,

I was in an emergency situation, they did not know me but when I got there they took incredible care of me! From my first visit they arranged laser surgery and new lenses completed the next two weeks so I could travel for an extended period of time! I now can read a book (haven’t been able to for over a year due to messed up vision not caught by my regular optometrist) and I can see clearly!!! God bless Dr. Max and team!

I'm SO excited I spent so much money on glasses and they need to be adjusted every week for them to fit on my face. I'm SO excited my family has the same issue as I do. Thank goodness my previous store will help me out and adjust them for me, because I do not EVER want to come back here. The doctor is uncomfortable, the receptionist is extremely rude and, as others have said, unprofessional. You could not pay me to get glasses here and, unfortunately, I'm stuck with them for the time being.

DO NOT GO HERE!!!! The people working there seemed completely uninterested in helping. They claimed my girlfriend had called and order glasses already and made it very apparent what an inconvenience it was to "cancel" the order when in fact she brought me in to help her pick a pair out. Her first experience with the doctor there was terrible he brought his bad mood into the office because he had a hard time getting out of his drive way and was completely unprofessional and made her uncomfortable. His son that works there told us multiple times "we are all set" as the lady was filling out my girlfriends

My children and I have been seeing Dr.Max for years now. I wouldn't want to be seen by anyone else. He is absolutly amazing with my children and keeping them engaged. When it was my son's first visit, he made sure that it was fun, and not traumatizing. I always thoroughly enjoy our visits. The women at the front desk are always kind and helpful. And every single time our glasses come in they call as soon as they get them and always make sure they fit properly before we leave. If you want an optometrist with a warm welcoming atmosphere that goes above and beyond, I highly recommend Dr.Max.

I'm not sure what happened with the previous review but my experience was just the opposite. Today was my first time there and the ladies at the counter were very helpful and kind. Dr. Max Engelman was very thorough and took his time to explain everything to me as this will be my first time wearing glasses. As for pushing contact's, I was told that I'm not a candidate for them due to my eye condition and I would like to be able to. I have absolutely no complaints at all, everything was handled just as I expected thus I would recommend to anyone to go there!
