Considering learning to scuba dive? Underwater Work's highly trained and professional instruction staff with over 40 years of combined teaching experience are ready to get you diving. Once you have completed your training you will be a certified SSI Diver with a max depth rating of 60 feet. SSI certification is recognized world wide so your diving experiences will be limitless.
Dive into the Gulf of Mexico with the professionals from UnderWater Works. Imagine spearfishing off the Alabama gulf coast. For you spearfishermen, we sell Riffe, A.B. Biller, and JBL spearfishing equipment. The South East region of Alabama has the largest artificial reef program in the nation consisting of coral reefs, shipwrecks, oil rigs, and military surplus.

Went through Underwater Works to obtain my open water certification and throughoutly enjoyed the experience. My instructor was John Morris and I must say he was calm and patient with me the entire time. I can't wait to get more dives under my belt so to speak and feel confident in my future dives due to John's teachings.

My husband and I just got certified at underwater works, and it was one of the best experiences we’ve had! Best experience of my life with some of the most wonderful and helpful people you'll ever meet. I'm a college student majoring in marine biology, and I decided to take an open water diving course over the summer. The location was convenient, and Chas and the crew were more than helpful with fitting me with the right equipment. You'll learn the science behind diving and enjoy the moments it and the shop provides. A great environment all the way around, Underwater Works is thorough in its SSI education, and I would recommend them to anyone looking to get certified.

I got certified with Underwater Works two years ago. The training I received was great. Chas ensured I had the best training and was ready from day 1. His experience and concern for his students is readily apparent. Pool time, classroom time and open water time are spent making sure you are ready and also that you enjoy your dive time completely. He and his staff are always available for any dive needs or if you just have questions or want to talk about dive experiences. I do not hesitate to recommend him to anyone who wants to train or re-train.

My twin brother and I have been diving with Under Water works for about 15 years. We have been fortunate enough to have gone with them to Honduras, Mexico and the Bahamas. Each and every trip was magnificent . Actually, the people make diving special and along the way we have met and made some good friends through diving.

Chas and the whole crew at Underwater Works are always helpful; it is a pleasure doing business with them. We went through classes as a family, and it was a great experience. Chas is an incredibly experienced dive instructor, patient, professional and realistic. He upholds a certain standard not often found in other scuba shops that just wanna rush folks through certification and get their money. Some reviews say he's cocky/questionable humor, well, he knows what he's doing but he also maintains a relaxed/fun atmosphere so folks aren't as anxious. He won't certify anyone until they're ready. However, if you're not ready to be certified, he will not rubber stamp anyone through...which is what anyone should expect since scuba diving

I and my son recently went to under water works to get my son certified to dive. Chas certified me many years ago and has always treated me fair. I wanted my son to join me in diving. He took the extra rime needed to make sure he understood what was going on and that he was comfortable in his gear. I was his partner in the class because of his age and having Chas as the instructor you get more than just here do these skills he takes the time to make sure you know and understand how and why the equipment works. I got scuba certified at Underwater works back in 1989. Over the years I have continued to use this shop for all of my diving needs. I have taken advanced diving courses, gone on trips out of the country that the shop has offered and is the only shop that I will let do the maintenance on my gear. This shop has the most up to date gear and only deals in the top of the line scuba gear.
