Around 1889 Peter Olson opened Olson's Shoe Repair at 224 Poyntz Ave. in Manhattan. In 1913 Peter's son Samual took over the family business and started the Electric Shoe Company. He had two stores located at 107 N. 4th St. and 1228 1/2 Moro. He and his son Clyde ran the stores together. When Clyde's health failed, his son Eddie took over.
Eddie Olson Sr., the present owner of Olson's Shoe Service, ran the shop from 1964 to 1984 located at 1214 Moro, in the current Jimmy John's sandwich shop. In 1984, Olson's Shoe Service moved to its present location at 1214 B Moro, behind the original shop. Eddie's son Edwin Jr. does the shoe repair work, continuing the tradition of the family business.

Services
From the North: Travel south on Tuttle Creek Boulevard (Highway 24) until you reach Bluemont Avenue. Turn right at Bluemont. In about one mile, you will see Willie's Car Wash on the left. There is a city parking lot just west of it, before Starbucks. Olson's is just south of this lot, next to Sisters of Sound.
Here at Olson's we have a variety of over-the-counter (OTC) foot orthotics that offer great support for the moderate over-pronator and in the treatment of plantar fasciitis. With slight modifications, we can customize the device to your specific needs. For more serious foot problems, we can take a cast of your foot using the foam box method with your foot in the non-weightbearing subtalar neutral position.
In addition to resoling and new heels, we also fix welts, add toe caps, replace insoles, patch and replace worn eyelets or hooks on western boots and dress shoes alike. We provide stitching repair for shoes and boots, as well as purses, backpacks, bags, etc. We can shorten belts, replace some zippers, replace elastic, add or replace velcro, stretch, polish, clean and condition your shoes.

I'm very picky about where I go to get my shoes repaired or cleaned. I went into Olson's with some pretty beat up suede leather shoes that I had lost all hope for. It took me about 1 minute to drop off my shoes and get an explanation from them about suede leather. A couple days later I picked them up for $15 and they were as good as new. Being from a big city and having been to multiple shoe repair shops, I can honestly say this was the best experience by far. Very impressed.

Olson’s did a fantastic job in professional customer service, quick work, fair pricing, and very good quality. I brought two pairs of shoes to be fixed: a pair of Birkenstock’s to be re-soled and a pair of platforms that needed the soles re-glued. One of the only Birkenstock certified sellers and cobblers, the experience was excellent; no complaints or concerns, signed, a happy customer.

This a great local place for shoe repair. I come in here whenever I find something wrong with soles or heels of boots or shoes. Prices are very reasonable, and the turnaround time is usually only a few days. They are also open on Saturdays which helps. It is conveniently located in the alleyway in Aggieville next to Sisters of Sound with the "i love you little apple" painted on the outside wall across from it. I usually park on Moro near Jimmy John's and walk to the alley. Support local businesses!

They do a great job of repairing shoes at a very affordable price. For around $13, they not only repaired the heels on my shoes, but cleaned them up and made them look like new. They are also very friendly and provide great customer service. I've tried other places and this is definitely the best place in town for shoe repair.
