Services
Our members work in every aspect of our trade including steel erection on buildings and bridges, plant maintenance, concrete reinforcing, conveyor work, sheeting, welding, rigging, fence erecting, curtain wall, window wall and a variety of other specialty work. It is our intention to provide the best skilled, drug free ironworkers for our contractors for projects located within our jurisdiction.
In the late 1880s, steel had virtually replaced wood and stone as the primary load-carrying material in the erection of bridges and buildings. This abrupt change in structural materials brought about a demand for a new type of worker-bridgemen and architectural ironworkers. Ironworkers became known as "cowboys in the sky."
The common term for a group of workers looking to join a union is "Organizing." Workers organize for various reasons, be it to improve their working conditions, increase their pay or benefits, and/or to create a better working environment.
